i can see how the pandaren (though not an allied race), dark irons, and even the nightborne (if you really crane your neck to try and make sense of how they maybe at one point could have taken a trip out of their bubble and got too close to lichy-land) could make sense as death knights… but void elves and lightforged? the first didnt exist until recently and the second has never actually been to azeroth until a few years ago (game-time).
i mean even if something was said like “the void elves that are death knights became death knights before accepting the void” that still would raise the question as to whether or not death and void could be compatible inside such a small mortal body… (same goes for light basically).
im not saying they’re wrong to make allied races death knights, but could someone please explain to me how it makes sense? bc i have to be missing something

Bolvar is making new death knights. They aren’t Arthas-made DKs.

They are veterans (casualties) of the fourth war.
This one, the one we just fought.
There’s even an in-game passive dictating so.

Void elf DK will be one of the best combos

well… highly contradictory, but i think thats probably what makes it edgy.
It’s about fantasy … The Lore it’s not the Bible …

No it won’t, they don’t fix any of the DKs issues. Worgen give them mobility, Dwarves give them a self dispel, Pandaren give them an extra interrupt… Void Elves give them an edgy look, to an already edgy class.
the lore is what makes the fantasy worth immersing yourself into. without the lore to focus it all in, it’s just all a bunch of craziness.

The racials are amazing for Death Knight …
Entropic Embrace
Your abilities have a chance to empower you with the essence of the Void, causing your damage and healing effects to deal an additional 5% as Shadowfrost for 12 sec.
Spatial Rift
Tear a rift in space. Reactivate this ability to teleport through the rift.

Reduce Shadow damage taken by 1%.
“ Pandaren and Allied Race Death Knights have a new starting experience and arise as champions of Lich King Bolvar at Icecrown amongst their spectral peers. After completing an introductory questline with Bolvar, they will begin their journey as heroes of Azeroth and join forces with either the Horde or the Alliance. Death Knights for previously available races will still begin their new lives in Archerus the Ebon Hold as summoned servants of Lich King Arthas.“
There is the Lore . Just wait couple of days and you can check the Quests .

I’m curious as to if this will actually be addressed for everyone in game or simply exist on its own like the attack on Light’s Hope Chapel and the Red Dragon Flight. If these are people wanting to become Deathknights that makes a difference but it’s still something that many would view as bad.
They’re fresher undead.
Remember how Forsaken had a different story before Cataclysm? Some dialogue even mentions some “old school” Forsaken talking about the “new” ones and how they’re different.

Using just my imagination and going on no facts whatsoever, I’m wondering/hoping that when Sylv broke the Lich Kings helm that whatever entity was within it was freed and it spread to all the DKs and everyone/anyone else that was susceptible to it.
That’s what I imagine it would be, would also explain the new DK eye bleed too.
I really don’t know though. Not up on the lore.
They stopped worrying about class and race combos making sense in Cata.
Except it does make sense. We’re going into a realm of death and Bolvar will be leading the ebon knights. All the recent dead races from BfA will be easy corpses to make into DKs.

They will probably rebrand DK’s in Shadowlands into some sort of Shadowlands soul warriors or something. Not the Ebon Blade from Wrath.
During the Legion campaign, when you talk to your DK recruiter dude, he tells you that they’ve been bringing those lost on the Broken Shore back into the mix via making them death knights.
Because of this, we can also assume that Bolvar has been hard at work turning people into DK’s throughout BFA as well. I’m sure the DK introduction quest will provide answers.
They also have a change in dialogue for flavor. DK’s that we make now are veterans of the third war. DK’s that we’ll be making as AR’s and Pandaren are veterans of the fourth war. In other words, they died during BFA.

It’s only bad if the Horde does it. Otherwise it’s just typical lore that no one in-universe or at Blizzard will really every think of or have any kind of problem with.
Only for fourth war veterans. You could probably RP one of the older races becoming a new gen DK without issues— depending on what storyline they use.
A lot of people who hate on certain combos have sticks up their butts and lack imagination.
A human being a hunter? Nonsense.
A tauren with the light from the sun? That’s dumb but we accept moon light priests.
Etc.
