So it seems like w/e the Zul crew did to Shadra, Rezan and nearly Torga straight up destroyed them.
But Hi’Reek you kill conventionally. Which we know doesn’t permanently destroy a Loa, as the Forsaken/ Wildhammer did exactly that to Shadra already in the Hinterlands questline.
So the bat god should probably be fine after a brief stint at Ardenweald’s rehab clinic, right?
Hope so at least. Bats are second only to Wyverns in terms of iconic Horde flying mounts. And I’d at least think it’d make for a neat subplot if he found new worshippers amongst the Forsaken bathandlers, many of whom clearly adore the things.
Man, Night Elf Winter Queen states she can’t bring everyone back. If you’re betting she’s going to let a night elf wild god die so she can bring a troll loa back, I have a bridge to sell you.
Tbh I’m deliberately not reading up much on the Covenant lore as I want to experience firsthand in game.
I figured Loa just regenerated. And if not, the Winter Queen rezzed Shadra before who’s a gigantic spider worshipped by homicidal forest trolls not even other forest trolls get along with.
So, not sure why Hir’Eek would get left on read permanently.
Hi’reek and Shadra are both fine, even Hakkar will be fine after Da Other Side. For Hi’reek and Shadra it was confirmed in an interview some time ago (I think it was the one for the last Blizzcon with The Lost Codex ). Hakkar was confirmed trough Shadowlands text.
We also saw them in the alpha. You are right they are regenerating in Ardenwald.
I think even Mam’toth is arround, or mentioned in Shadowlands, which is awesome. He was one of the view loa we never knew if he was gone forever.
I’m really glad we will see those loa again (even though Hakkar deserved better than a dungeon fight).
That’s good to hear. The Loa were never presented particularly well in game before outside boss fights, and while I love Bwomsamdi, the Hobo Queen and His Holy Circumference I was a little disappointed the spookier Loa appeared to die just as we were getting properly introduced.
Also Torga better turn up. Maybe I’m in the minority here but the prospect of storytime with a giant friendly turtle filled me with childlike wonder. I was not happy with that bait and switch at all. A sick mind wrote that questline.
Same for me, same for me. I don’t like the loa are tied to Ardenwald stick. The whole thing seems strange to me.
At least we will see some of the loa though and I am happy with every bit of story for them. Perhaps you should also replay Zul’drakks Quest about their loa, while not so in depth like in Zul’dazar it was something (and mostly sad).
Torga is neat, but I can’t see him in Shadowlands because is is alive. Perhaps he shows up somewhere for something. As long as we see him in the future I’m fine with it for now.
It could be interesting. From the sound if it the Shadowlands may be older than all creation, and before there were Elves there were Trolls. Loas and Wild Gods, far as I can tell, are the same thing.
So stands to reason the Trolls would be as connected with Ardenweald as the Kaldorei.
Can confirm torga is alive. He is in the hall of chroniclers next to lashk. You can also go down to terrace of the chosen and go into the house of the lost loa to read about all the loa that have been killed since classic
Agree. I was a night elf that faction change. I like have a theme if able. I was going Fae as a NE and as a Troll I’m stay Fae since Loa may be there. Though Not a huge fan that as a Horde i’m helping the Night Hobo Queen again…
There seems to be a side quest line (I think Horde only but it also ties in with Da Other Side dungeon) that between Bwomsamdi and the Winter queen.
He was pretty quickly squandered. But after Shadow’s Rising it seems like Talanji has established a good working relationship with Bwomsamdi, so if he comes back I’m not sure what role he’d serve in the narrative.
I guess maybe he could be more the patron deity of Zandalar generally than specifically the god of the crown.
Rezan’s ultimate fate is currently unknown, but he appeared to have made a gambit on Vol’jin. Going by Eyir and Bwonsamdi’s comments both in datamine and live it seems the “Hand of Valor” that bailed Vol’jin out may have been Rezan himself.
It’d be funny if the winter queen treated the Loa like a cat she let outside who kept getting in fights after all this nonsense. “No. You’re an indoor Loa now. Those mean Trolls keep killing you so I’ll keep you here and hug you and love you and give you treats. Who’s a good Loa? You are!”
I think it’s genuinely difficult to destroy a Loa and/or Wild God entirely, especially now that we know about the realm they go to specifically to reconstitute. One of the only instances of a Loa being truly dead I can recall is Mam’toth, who destroyed himself with extreme spiritual force as to not allow his followers to sacrifice him for his power, which apparently means he’s not able to return.
Otherwise, I think most of the other Loa are fine. Torga likewise reconstituted briefly after his death (just in a younger form), and both Hir’eek and Shadra returned to the Shadowlands to reform. Only one I’m iffy on is Rezan. By all accounts, it seems that Rezan SHOULD reform the same as the others, given he was corrupted much in the same way as Hir’eek (that or he was killed and reanimated, which likewise should mean he’s okay). But since there’s no word of god on the matter, it’s anyone’s guess where Rezan is.
