We mastered the ability to transform into an awesome demon expansions ago. Then suddenly when Demon Hunters rejoin us, we forget to use one of our most fundamental abilities. SOME CLASS FANTASY THAT IS.
Here’s what I’m thinking. Remove Demonic Tyrant from demo, or make it a talent instead. Then give Demonology warlocks a transformation that pertains to demons. Heck, have us transform into the demonic tyrant if that’s the case. We’ll still be different from Demon Hunters because we’ll be casters who demonically transform.
Guldan even transformed in front of our faces. Like wow, thanks for that Blizzard Class Developers…
Demonology warlocks just want to transform like we used to! It doesn’t have to be that Illidan model.

or maybe not, i am happy summoning an army of demon and making a big boy tyrant.

At this point a meta build would need its own spec.
Like, legit metamorph as a 4th spec and just implementing it there would be far beneficial then once again revamping demo for the millionth time.
Even if meta were to return as a spec unto itself, it would be better suited as a demon Hunter range spec. Even if Blizzard were to do that, it would be way too similar to warlocks.
Meta belongs with demon hunters. Let them transform into the lowly creatures we enslave. It’s beneath us
I personally hated Warlock Metamorphosis, and I hope it stays dead forever
Edit: Gul’dan didn’t transform either. He just grew weird bone spikes and turned red.
The demon you fight after Gul’dan dies on mythic is the demon soul Gul’dan was trying to bind to Illidan’s body. That’s why it says “You topple a pawn, and presume to challenge it’s master?! Such arrogance!”. It wasn’t Gul’dan

No. Meta is DH, it always was. We only got it because blizzard was trying to stave off putting yet another class into the game to balance. That gambit failed. Good riddance.

But… illidan only got metamorphasis after he consumed the skull of gul’dan… a warlock.
And gul’dan had his own transformation.
