During today’s Twitch broadcast, I thought I heard that the new HC server would eventually progress to TBC and beyond. However, I later read a blue post stating that this was never the plan. Can someone from Blizzard clarify this? If there’s no progression, why launch another HC server that’s identical? That approach doesn’t make much sense to me.

I was hoping for fresh realms with progression to TBC over time—that would be ideal.

The new HC server will progress thru Classic Content P1 to P6. While this wont impact most people leveling, where it will have a relatively large impact is raiding. There will be less opportunity to skip forward, say using ZG/AQ20 gear, or even the 0.5 set. But the real impact at least unless they launch it early will be no Petri.
As the other servers then move to TBC, it will simply roll into the Classic ERA grouping.
So, it’s just a third identical HC server to further split the population. Thanks for the clarification!

Pretty much, honestly unless you’re a raider, can’t see the real reason to move, and if there is no petri, will they even be willing to move? Unless I am wrong about the phase it was in.

Seems like a weird decision to just… not go to TBC
plenty of other… servers… out there do tbc and even wrath hc, people would play vs it rotting as just another hc server

Honestly, could care less about ERA, already can play the forever servers and HC, was hoping for forever TBC, but that looks like its a pipe dream, as they are forcing progression from new ERA servers, and made no comments about not moving forward to WOTLK after TBC which kinda kills it.

We actually should get a Fresh HC server that different more than just simply by progression released content, but that it should disable petri and also continue to progress to TBC etc.
That way if people dont wanna do TBC content they stay with their community on the regular servers (that should be merged)

they said HC realms are not going to TBC. TBC is too crazy and unpredictable to support HC 
simple as.
