So glad they are getting rid of WAs

I’m so happy that Blizzard is nuking weak auras and addons as much as they can. Imagine playing a game and relying so heavily on outside programs and have them practically play the game for you. I saw someone complaining that they are going to get hit by frontals now that they wont have 5 different sound alerts yelling at them to move.

Also if you quit the game because you cant have all your fancy weak auras and addons I say good riddance. The game has been extremely complicated and bloated for too many years and it’s great to see Blizzard is finally trying to simplify things as much as they can.

First of all, WeakAuras don’t play the game for you. It’s just more intuitive than Blizzard’s default UI.

Second of all, nobody is forcing you to use WeakAuras. You are free to play the game with the default UI if u wish to do so. Why should everyone else be forced to play how u want to ?

Last but not least, where is your main ? You’re posting from a level 70 toon, I can’t see the kind of content you’re clearing. LFR heroes shouldn’t be speaking for those of us timing +15s in M+.

I’ve never been a fan of the idea of addons that remove decision making from the game. However it should be noted that replacing most of the addon functionality with something in house.

Those are supposedly being covered by their own built-in systems, so this is a non-issue. Also, they’re allegedly improving on visual and audio cues as well as clarity to help with these issues.

They should definitely nuke combat addons and computational WAs that solve mechanics, like Fractilus for example that’s entirely trivialized by WAs that tell everybody where to position the walls, but they shouldn’t touch WAs that only deal with personal combat state like putting up icons for own buffs, debuffs, or customizable resource displays, not to mention stuff that helps with accessibility.

when is bad faith and ill intent getting an option for reporting

You’ll get some bites, folks chomping at the bit to vent about this.

I’ve never used it, so it doesn’t really matter to me.

Why does it bother you so badly?

The only thing that plays the game for you is the 1 button rotation that Blizzard themselves added to the game.

Here’s his main

This is like saying you’re glad they remove edit mode, raid/party frame customization etc.

What’s so bad ablut being able to customize your UI to your preference?

If Blizzard could do a good job to begin with then these addons would be redundant, similar to how nobody uses gearscore after blizzard introduced item level. Players will use addons because the fanbase (addon creators) are better at the game design than blizzard employes are.

I want more casuals to play the game. I want my brothers to stick to the game without getting fatigued by the massive undertaking it takes to learn every little nuance. I’m tired of the 1% sweats telling me WoW has to be their way. WoW has to evolve and do a reset of sorts or the game will never be approachable. This is a video game by the way. We should be enjoying it. It’s not a special clubhouse that only the best of the best should be catered to.

I enjoy the complexity of WoW. Addons included. I see a lot of people saying it will be more like guild wars or it will be more like final fantasy! Well that’s why those games are guild wars and final fantasy. It’s sort of baffling why WoW would want to emulate these less successful games.

Blizzard has proven they don’t have the capability to replicate what addon developers do, as seen with their in-house garbage UI.

I worry they probably will have largely killed their own game.

You have never used an addon to know anything about addons,.

If Blizzard entirely blocked addons the majority of the player.base would leave especially the ones with disabilities.

If you hate addons that much form or join a community and play with like minded people like you.

Since you’re not wanting to part take in your discussion, yes this a troll post.

Watching elitist gatekeepers being against this, so short-sighted, without a second thought… has been utterly hilarious.
Do y’all even understand WAs are becoming built-into the in-game UI?!
This will be far better for so many more players. It will make things more variable (e.g. boss mechanics) and easier to balance (toolkits, talents). The plague of hidden modifiers, AddOn engineering degree requirements and screen clutter would have made everyone except the no-lifers quit before long. Midnight is fixing this, and I couldn’t be more excited! :dracthyr_a1:  :new_moon:

Don’t worry, it’s not going to be that way. Removing combat addons removes a barrier of entry. There are plenty of people out there who would like to try more advanced content but don’t want to spend hours configuring addons just to meet raid requirements.

I mean that’s great! If they could do it!

I will love it if its a success, but Blizzard’s track record on trying to re-create community improvements is very poor. UI is best example.

You’d only ever have to enter the world of addons if you’re planning on doing high end content. If all your “casuals” want to do is some basic m+ up to like 15s or such, or hc raiding, then they’ll never even have to learn what an addon is.

Besides, blizz could just introduce all their new tech and if it’s good it’ll replace the addons anyway. They don’t have to destroy addons just because they can’t create anything of similar quality themselves.

I wish that were the case but it is not. They literally have said as long as combat addons exist (especially in the way they have to) they can’t design the game to be “fun” anymore. They know that certain weakauras will literally solve some mechanics full stop. They haven’t been able to put specific mechanics into the game anymore because addons and weakauras literally stifle game design.

Give me just one example that can’t be solved by simply creating mechanics that doesn’t require weakauras.

I’m not going to sit here and do your research for you. You can find interviews and articles from the devs about this all over youtube and other various blog posts. I’m simply paraphrasing what has been said countless times. If you aren’t taking the time to keep up with all the news on the topic that isn’t on me to provide you with the updates.
