So glad I'm on Faerlina, here's why

That’s because they aren’t as big of a celebrity, if I go out and ask someone who Joaquin Phoenix is they probably won’t know.

Hmmm, nah I’ll pass. I like some youtubers, don’t care if I ever see them in a video game WoW streamers aren’t any of them, but you be have fun, I guess.

Famous?

IMO if you can fill a sports stadium as well as reach millions of viewers, I would call that famous. You want to squibble about what counts as real fame have fun, but it doesn’t make you “right”.

You’re joking right?

No I’m not, like for example I don’t know any mumble rappers nowadays, but some people do and they consider them celebrities. If someone asked me who “Lil something” is, I wouldn’t know. If someone asked me who Kripparian is, I’d know.
You let useless info pass through, and remember things that you find interesting, don’t concern yourself with what society demands, do what you wanna do.

Lil Wayne? The multi millionaire probably more

I know of Lil Wayne, but there’s lot of Lil’s nowadays and I wouldn’t know any of them probably. Are they not celebrities then?

Something tells me that a lot of the people here supporting the OP are the type of people who would bug a celebrity for an autograph while the celebrity is eating at a restaurant or on vacation with their family.

Depends who, I wouldn’t wanna annoy them because they get annoyed all the time, if I was one I wouldn’t wanna be bothered either.

Famous people are so much better than us peasant-folk. I’m truly jealous.

They are, but to a different level. And some find it funny when you compare a twitch streamer to an actual celebrity, that’s all.

Well there’s level of famous. There’s Keanu Reeves, and then there’s… Dean Winchester guy, Jensen Ackles.

Yep, agreed.

Same, never heard of them before.

Celebrities usually get residuals, and have 20% taken out of content made through third parties. Further, most of the tabloids completely take advantage (its a free market) of the celebrity, who usually, don’t see a dime from being read or watched, other than creating buzz, which can contribute to their brand, if positive. For example, celebs know exactly what they are doing when their managers suggest that they do their weight loss reveal, by alerting SM that they will be jogging along Malibu Beach this Sunday, and then proceed to draw the tabloids out to give them ‘free’ press.

However, the producers who hire the celebrities leverage the celeb notoriety for profit.

Celebrities figured out how to monetize themselves using SM/streams and producing their own shows for a much larger piece of their likeness pie. They are constantly balancing the numbers between promoting self content, or signing their production packets.

Bottom line: In 2019 Celebrities essentially leverage their notoriety, using the same technology streamers take advantage of.

Celebrities are becoming SM streamers, too.

So, no big ‘difference’ but when you dig deep, there is a HUGE difference on how Asmongold builds his following compared to Brad Pitt.

Props to George Takei for being a celebrity pioneer in the SM/meme universe, and paving the way for other personalities to take advantage of using the new platform to improve their brand.

So if you want to match Asmongold, I think a direct comparison to George Takei isn’t too far off. I respect and admire them both, although you couldn’t have two completely different personalities mentioned in the same paragraph (one will nit just to be an @hole and Asmo knows his brand works with all the facepalming, and George genuinely cares about most people, especially empathetic ones and not so much conservative narrow minded ones).

Have you heard of Joaquin Phoenix?

I know him.

He’s also nuts. Anytime you go to someone’s Twitter page and the timeline is nothing but tweets, good or bad, about the president, you are viewing the ramblings of a true crazy person.

Yes, many many people do. He has won, and been nominated for, lots of awards in the past.
