So glad I'm on Faerlina, here's why

It’s really not. Never tried to pretend it was a direct one to one but if you have enough people viewing your content concurrently to fill a pro sporting arena, I would say that qualifies as famous.

WoW famous maybe. Not making the news or TV or anything.

If you don’t like comparing a twitch stream to a stadium, compare it to a television broadcast, which has no additional charges to the viewer.

Seriously though, my kids and their friends could name more streamers on youtube and twitch than they could name any sports stars or actors. Just because I don’t recognize a streamer name doesn’t mean they’re not well known with a great many other people. Enough to classify as a celebrity even.

Swifty is known to all WoW players since vanilla, yeah I’d call that famous.

Yea like I said, wow famous.

Does Gordie Howe being ‘only hockey famous’ make him any less of a celebrity?

People who deny WoW celebrities are cringy as hell, if someone is known to whole playerbase of the game, they’re a celebrity in the game.

I never said anything about famous or not. Just laughed at the sports stadium comparison

What is this “TV” you speak of?

I don’t consider anyone on Twitch or Youtube a “celebrity.”

Hahahaha.

Hahahaha.

You don’t get out much.

So Kanye West isn’t a celebrity because I don’t like him? Yeah. That’s how it works.

Oh you know, just what they show sports on and has millions of viewers that the stadium couldn’t fit.

Now we are comparing a twitch streamer to a song artist?

Asmongold hit 300k the other day in one YT stream, on top of 100k through Twitch. I’m too lazy to look at crossover data, but let’s just settle on half which is very conservative.

I’ll grab a decent rating show in the biz: CW’s summer Penn and Teller garnered about 1.2 million an episode, and that’s with a crazy long history of branding, a trillion Vegas shows, and the entire marketing industry supporting them.

His current branding draw is about a third (approx 350k) as an established entertainment duo in a single episode match up.

Not too shabby for a committed WoW player.

Still doubt? Look up DanTDM sometime.

You can hate streamers all you want, but they are here to stay and are making an impact on how advertisers choose to spend their money. Hence, why networks are scrambling to remain interactive, using social media.

As for the arena argument: the strength of the stream platform avoids having to fill an arena, and “filling arenas” in 2019 is very elusive without a seriously insane marketing effort, or immortal brand. The implied profit margin isn’t the same, either. In fact the whole argument belongs back in the 90s quite frankly where stadiums were the king venue. It is harder to fill arenas because of the internet and streamers take advantage of that reality. Look up major sports stadium demand trends. Declining in the aggregate, especially once you shuck the prepaid corporate tickets used to inflate numbers.

Well both got a fanbase, which ultimately makes them a celebrity in their circle. Twitch celebrities are known in game communities, whether they’re loved or hated, you know of them, and they make lot of money.

Ewww Asmonds woman.

Yes, wow streamers are known in gaming. Music artists and sports celebs are known in many different social networks

Yes, they’re both known. Known being keyword. Known and making fat cash. IRL celebrities get watched and read about, streamers get watched every day, not too much difference.

Huge difference. Go outside and ask people who Asmon or Swifty are. I bet the majority would not have a clue
