Yep. I was standing in the portal room seeing NPCs running through the portal thinking, “How?”. Makes no sense.
I thought the “covenant realms” were the utilitarian parts of the Shadowlands that are needed for it to function, and only select souls go there in what are probably extremely rare cases.
I guess that still makes it an afterlife, but I don’t think the ones we’ve seen are meant to be the default for folks.
So everyone’s going to abandon their religion in 10.0

The ones we see have specific purposes made by the first ones.
Kyrian are like angels. Messengers and members who ferry souls to the shadowlands. Basically they are shadowlands uber.
Necrolords- Are the defense of the shadowlands. They are supposed to protect it from danger or threats.
Venthyr- Extract anima for the shadowlands to prosper from bad souls. And gives souls a second chance to move onto a different after life or stay as a venthyr if they choose.
Night Fae- They are tasked with helping the forces of nature rebirth.
The Maw- Meant to house the most dispicable of souls and farm them for maw anima- stygia.
There are way more that are every races afterlife mythos. And Stuff like De Other Side is where Bwonsamdi’s after life is.
The Night elves and hunters or lovers of nature get a just afterlife in Arden weald at least, but I see your point clearly.
Don’t forget - the Azerothian Postal Service was in ZM before we even got there. Which is… kind of odd and funny at the same time.
The only ones that shed their memories of the past were those in the Kyrian Covenant and we fixed that.
That would have been a much better realm than some of the ones we got. Why is it always the stories we don’t see are usually the most compelling? Like in movies. We get to see a bland story being told, but something that happened to a secondary character on the way to work always seems way more interesting.
Here’s my question, and maybe this already answered. A Death Knight is someone resurrected from the dead, same as the forsaken. How does that effect the shadowlands, why don’t I remember being here?
We’ve seen pretty clearly (especially over the past 5 or 6 years here in the US) that facts have no effect on people who link their whole identity to a belief system. Anything we say about the Shadowlands will just be “fake news” or “alternative facts”.
