So Druids, Nintendo owns you

How are druids feeling now that your shape-shifting ability is now part of a patent given to Nintendo?

Might as well toss Shaman Ghost Wolf, Dragonkin flight.

U.S. patent No. 12,409,387

Blizz, you going to handle this? or we going back to the stoneage and walking and leaving our mounts in stables? Sonce we wont be able to summon them.

Demo locks will have meta returned to them if they end up losing their pets. Nice.

Finally I’ll get the transformer sound when I transform into a cat or bear.

Thank you Nintendo!

Would this also affect stuff like the Sandstone Drake, Tarecgosa, Obsidian Nightwing?

Oh gosh. Shape-shifting magic is common in most fantasy video games owned by a variety of companies. There’s no way Nintendo can sue them all.

I think they already struck the frost mages already, it could happen. :snowman:

How so? Shape shifting is a concept that goes back to time immemorial, across countless cultures.

That’s why they took it away.

I want to insult nintendos mom so bad right now. Luckily I know restraint and that ho ain’t worth it either.

Dying in a car wreck and cancer.

Well I assure you Nintendo can subject you to neither.

Unless you were playing a Switch while driving I guess lol.

Doesn’t matter, the USPTO just gave Nintendo a patent on summoning and shape shifting. This isn’t a philosophical debate, more what can be enforced in court.

Right now, the USPTO gave Nintendo a massive arsenal to target anygame, and every MMO.

They’re taking it back retroactive. Dead civilizations are getting lawsuits against them now.

I can’t imagine they’d start suing other companies without carefully considering the backlash from gaming communities.

People really just read headlines, eh?

They’re not going to be able to enforce such a ridiculous patent. They have the entire game industry up in arms over it.

They don’t care about that. They just want money. Some companies are so obsessed with the idea of making more money short term, they never concern themselves with profits long term. This is how companies go bankrupt. Sue half the gaming community, make a bunch of money, everyone hates you, they stop buying your games, your company dies. Many such cases.
