I’m talking about the confirmed part-draconic frogs in the Dragon Isles. How did they come to be?
Out of game this is just a rather pasted-on mechanic to give hunters another skillbook-tame. In-game, I worry. The way I see it, there are three options.
The draconic energy in the Dragon Isles, accumulated either from the strong auras of dragons or the land itself, just makes them that way. They might even evolve into actual dragons given enough time, if the niche was emptied.
They’re not really dragons at all; it’s just random convergence. I really doubt this as several swogs are seen hoarding piles of treasure. Maybe they’re smart enough to be imitative.
Dragons in fantasy settings are rather renowned for their usually-shapeshifted… doings… to other species… which results in part-dragon creatures.
WoW Dragons have the capability to transform creatures either intentionally or unintentionally. So, is very likely they were just big frogs that were transformed by being around dragons.
Didn’t Tyr do something that would change the eggs of the Proto-Drakes that didn’t want to be changed? If he did it probably also effected the eggs of the frogs that were lying around.
I’m, well… hoping, for this one. It seems reasonable to guess that the magic that makes dragons dragons is kind of…leaky, and tends to make other creatures somewhat dragoney around them. I thought the origin of the humanoid/centaurlike dragonkin (but intentional), not sure if it’s still that.
Secondary theory, there was lore tweets about the dragons changing things and stuff… But what if it goes a bit further and Swogs were an ancient prank by some dragons to make fun of a Themberchaud-sized dragon?
It’s likely this one considering we know areas shrouded in mist wind up developing their own ecosystems and their own differences among species. Pandaria had the same thing with its elementals and such.
