I don’t know what Blizzard is thinking. Using consecration for ret and making it part of the core game play for any aoe situation is incredibly frustrating. It’s so disappointing for a class that has so much influence in the lore of the game. I know there are other builds but consecration seems to be a major player in any aoe focused effort.
For the first time in WoW, I’m seriously second guessing having a pally main. And now I’m sad.

2 things that ret lacks for me.
Defense/sponginess and movement.
Pursuit of justice flat 20% increased movement.
Buff our armor/health/something. We are the squishiest plate dps of all.

They nerfed the 5% MS gem from BFA. Started using that late into SL PvP and holy hell what a difference 15% MS makes. 20% is just golden
The funniest part is (from my experience so far) a solid 50% of (dungeon) mobs are straight-up immune to consecrate, including multiple bosses. Meaning, we have a bunch of points wasted on improving consecration in our talent tree and our guaranteed consistent AoE in the form of Exorcism (why doesn’t it give hpower?) can’t actually spread.
Thank you, Blizzard.
I don’t think they are immune to the consecration dmg, but the initial dmg of placing it, I could be mistaken though.
I dropped Exorcism. It’s just… an extra button, in my opinion. It wasn’t adding much, and I’m better off for dropping it.

Same, I never liked it. I have 18% haste and always have a button to push without it. Like to the point of being gcd locked bc of dusk and dawn.
This is sad. I’ve been waiting for this spell to come back for so long, and they brought it in the least usable way possible, and it’s now probably going to get removed again because of it.

Which is probably their plan all along! Brought back Exorcism as complete sh!te to say they’re listening and then remove it and justifying it by saying noone was using said sh!te ability.
Also the sound effect is just sad and pathetic like why did they change it.

I tried a heavy Consecration talent build and was so unimpressed by it that I’ve gone to basically only having Art of War procced Blade of Justice be my only source of Consecration, and no increased damage talents.
Exo is supposed to be great but even when i tax 7 targets with it, it does around 30-35k, which yes forone button press is good but its just so clunky, sometimes it doesnt spread, i dropped it so i could get healing hands, cause otherwise our non crit wogs do less than 15% of our hp, and in harder dungeons it feels requried, while exo really doesnt.
After i removed it the roation feels cleaner and smoother, im getting used to consecration and in some heavy pulls it does as much damage as my divine storm without counting the smaller echo that follows.

I love Exorcism in my rotation. It also makes our lack of mobility feel less terrible. Consecration, as it is now, is lame though.
If Exorcism was a bit beefier and had a % chance to spread, separate from consecration, it’d feel a lot better.
As is, even with 2 cons, it feels like positioning mobs so you can get it to spread eats up more time and mental bandwith than it’s really worth.

It feels like the last part of an exam you are studying for. You are motivated and work really hard on the first chapters (whatever class is designed best right now), then you put in a grind for the majority. Finally you come to the last chapter and just half a$$ it just to finish and be over with it.
Weird analogy but thats what I feel the talents etc. For ret are… they just half a$$ed it as if they ran out of time and just needed to wrap it up.
Turn all baseline abilities into the tree, and call it a day.
It really could have been so much better.

So true! I was excited to have this spell and find a cool and effective way to incorporate it into my gameplay. But I haven’t. I was hoping it would be a bigger damaging range spell to make up for any mobility issues. Maybe a mini range execute or something. I’m mainly talking pvp. But yeah, so disappointing.
I just build my lvl60 retribution paladin in a way that felt like it would make the most sense to me and jumped into some content. Differently from you guys, I had a bulldozer in avenging wrath, crazy heals and absolutely amazing shields that were almost never really necessary. It felt crazy op. But perhaps this is just the point of view of a long time casual death knight that don’t really get you guys
You dont get them because they arent living in reality. The class isnt perfect but it is still incredibly strong in all forms of content.
Consecration is good class design. Consc never should have been removed from ret. It is especially useful for ret in pvp. Learn to enjoy it.

Because button bloat, bad talent tree designed, lack of utility due to said bad talent tree, bad mobility, bad talent synergy, and bad defensives isn’t reality? Ok bud lmao. That’s some hardcore blizzard simping if you don’t see at least these. If not the many many other issues with paladin.

Exorcism should have just gone full circle and replaced blade of wrath and applied the dot as well. It feels so bizarre as a stand alone button. I actually don’t mind consecrate from a design stand point but in play I just wish it was divine hammer from legion.
