how close is suramar to an authentic ancient nelf imperial city?
Do remember that Suramar likely changed over the 10,000 years it was separated from the rest of the world.
(Not to mention, an authentic nelf imperial city is what we have today. As Suramar and Zin’azshari are HIGHBORNE cities)
They’re pretty similar, although highborne cities seem more natural. Zin-Azshari was filled with trees, whereas Suramar has scarcer flora.
Blizzard mentions Naga Architecture every time they talk about Zin’Azshari and Nazjatar. I don’t think it looks anything like the Elven cities of 10,000 years ago.
The clips in the preview showed Legion-style night elf architecture for Zin-Azshari. I imagine new art assets will be to show the Nazja divergence from Imperial style.
Keep in mind we’re talking about cities of a continent-spanning empire here. Does New York look like Los Angeles? In some ways yes, and in some ways no. There’s no reason to assume all of the night elven empire’s cities were identical.
You can see a glimpse of what the city was like in the Warbringers: Azshara cinematic.
I would describe it as a mixture of ancient Greek and Darnassus without the trees. Lots of stone / concrete, the usual Elven embellishments and the like. I’d say it’s only like Suramar in that it does have vegetation, but the architecture is maybe a bit less sophisticated
Great. Underwater Suramar. At least now i can swim past them guards talking to themselves about illusions hiding.
they know class like all highborne
Hop into the Well of Eternity dungeon.
They incorporate more trees into the architecture there. Though it may just be because back in cataclysm they didn’t have a definitive vision for the ancient night elf empire, like with suramar.
Oh no. It was so much more glorious. Zin Azshari was the heart of the Highborne, Mother city. Suramar was another, smaller Highborne city. Two separate places.
Suramar is from the time of Zin Azshari and they are Highborne but they were overtaken by fear, after hearing of what happened with Azshara and the Legion. Hence creating the barrier. Blocking out the Moon, they started to wither and the over saturation from the Night well, transformed them.
Maybe, but I doubt it. All that “Nigh Elven Architecture” on the Broken Isles was actually Highborne.
Yes. Khadgar tells you this when you fly down to Azsuna.
Had to edit that because I was wrong originally. I confused A Fallen Star with the Azsuna introduction quest lol.
