As of a few hours ago, Blizzard hotfixed [Rooting Out Counterfeits] where it will no longer drop Market Research, which was a new way to farm rep efficiently. It was not fun though, but it was bar-none the fastest way to gain rep, after the slime farm was shut down.
This reputation grind is subjectively not fun and it’s pushing players into finding loopholes such as these WQs, just to make it bearable, so of course Blizzard hotfixed them almost immediately, without addressing why players felt the need to use it in the first place.
The core issue here is bad design. Players aren’t trying to “cheat the system.” They’re trying to avoid wasting hours on a grind that feels outdated and punishing, and this is outdated.
Blizzard needs to find an alternative way to gain rep with Darkfuse that isn’t monotonous and boring. I know many, including myself, who never bothered with it, until these WQs made it faster. Please boost rep gains and add more sources.
If not for Darkfuse, then at least consider it for future ‘secret’ reputations.
Unless its a bug from the looks of it atm only rares and scrap jobs are dropping Market Research now at least for me as well so everything might have been nerfed this time
yeah I said only rares and scrapjobs seem to be dropping the research now not the goblins we used to be able to farm on the beach and all over undermine arent dropping any anymore for me
I did the vast majority of my grind via scrap jobs too. And I competed it just before the bonus rep event launched .
I tried the beach grind but found it to actually be far worse than doing scrap piles. At least in terms of keeping my sanity intact.
I can sympathize with people desperate to avoid this grind by using these “exploits”. Darkfuse was a terrible farm. It took me from when Undermine first launched to just before the bonus rep event started, to hit exalted. That’s with playing Undermine every day. Although I didn’t do scrap piles everyday. I had to pace myself as otherwise I would have ended up going insane anyway.
I mean grinding this rep does suck i feel like they couldve made more MR drop from everything or just make the boxes cost less MR but I think another big issue that ppl have been doing these farms for are the Machina that has felt impossible to get the entire season when you need like 125-150 of it to buy the mounts and pets and you only really get it from paragon boxes and low chances in the dumpsters and trashcans
You are still looking for different ways to exploit the game before you are willing to play it. The way you get reputation for the Darkfuse is supposed to be “do it over time and just gather reputation whilst you are in the undermine farming stuff.”
Your refusal to play that way, and instead of going “I will not do it until I have an exploit that makes it easy and exploitative for me!”
Just don’t do it if you don’t want to.

if you just do it while doing stuff in the undermine tho you wont be done for like a year+ to be fair unless your doing the weeklies on alts and killing every rare every single day even then itll take a long time with how much MR drops and how much the boxes for rep cost
The amount of Darkfuse you’d get from what you’d have saved for ~3 characters weekly would go a long way, especially if you had it saved for the event.
I don’t personally think it’s too bad, but then again the paragon chest mount does look pretty sweet.
Plus-side as people say is you can infinitely grind it, and with the bonus it won’t take too long.
A sub based game where the longer you play, the longer you pay. If you get it all done too quickly, then you can unsub between seasons and Blizz loses revenue. So they create a completionist level attitude and environment and make your FOMO worse thinking you are gonna miss out on something if you don’t farm it. Just look at collector’s bounty. How many people stayed subbed and resubbed under the lie of a 5% drop rate
yeah but 1. some ppl dont have alts and 2. most ppl probably didnt know this event was gonna buff darkfuse this time to spend the last month saving all there research for it because why should you have to wait to buy rep boxes for a limited time rep event if you “should” be able to get the rep done normally overall the boxes should cost less or more MR should drop from rares and scrap jobs with and without the pots and beacons to buff it we shouldnt be doing this rep casually into next expac I know its just cosmetics but farming an optional rep for that long seems like they didnt think it thru enough especially when ppl wanna try to get the machina for the mounts and pets as well and theres no real way except paragon boxes for it as well
you could get it done with the hyperspawns now that its nerfed you cant doing it the casual way of killing rares and doing the weeklies your very limited to how much MR you get unless you do scrapjobs and just with scrapjobs theres no way you get it done in 1 day youd still farm scrap jobs for at least a week and thats if you can be online all day doing em
That’s your choice but since it isn’t something that directly impacts your character, hard to cry about it being punishing when you can just choose to not do it lol.
you can say that because some people dont care about the mog or mounts locked behind stuff like that but if they were to put the ring from siren isle or the recent belt behind a rep lock like this and all of a sudden everyones in an uproar having a long grind for cosmetics is one thing have a god awful long one for no reason is another the rep boxes should cost 50 instead of 100 or everything needs to drop more MR you shouldnt be farming casually for this everyday for god knows how long now that they nerfed pretty much everything that used to drop MR except scrap jobs and rares
