They already have the system in place to sign up as a merc to play for the other faction.
Why not allow someone to queue with their friends if they do this?
For example, Alliance player and a horde player who choses to merc?

I don’t see why they stopped with cross faction where they did. Now I have to get in discord and 321 with my bro to just do random bgs together.
Or if they make kultirans able to be warlocks that’d let him be alliance with me. Either or.

Yeah, this would be great if you were alliance and grouped up with a horde player and joined the queue then you could turn into a horde race when you entered the bg. I’d really like this.
Adding a 10v10 solo/group queue would be great too. It would shorten the wait times for rbg teams that want to get games in and it would let people playing with their friends in smaller groups get some good games in too.
Merc mode existing really shoots a huge hole in their explanation for keeping it out of queued content, which was that they wanted playing with the other faction to be solely opt-in. Alliance certainly don’t get any option whether they can play with mercs or not, and the only real difference is whether they keep their racials or turn into another race, maybe that matters to some RP people but I don’t think any casual BG players care.
Should def implement x-faction unrated PvP sooner than later, no real reason not to.

I’d want it so when you queued for horde as an alliance you’d get the corresponding horde race and racials. Like what horde get with merc mode. I wouldn’t want to see gnomes for example on the horde side, unless it was an rbg then I wouldn’t care as much, but I still appreciate the faction identity that’s been preserved in random bgs.
So adding the option to queue as either faction with cross faction grouping, and getting a horde racial and look when queueing as horde would be the better option for me, merely because I’d have access to a new ability I could use which would be the horde racial and it would help me decide as to which faction I’d want to queue as while talking things over with the friends in the group.
Most of my friends play horde. So I went horde. But I have other peoppe that want to play alliance. (And i want my rogue as a nelf) For mythic plus ect its non issue since cross faction there exists. But I really wanna do casual bgs with my friends despite being one faction or not.

I feel like we are overcomplicating something that should be simple. Just make it so that teams are a mixed bag and there are no more BG factions. No need to race change in the instance or anything like that. We’ve reached a point where there’s no real reason to keep the queues separate. Don’t quote me and respond with “But my immersion!” because immersion is out the window at this point in WoW.
The pros are all there with very few cons. And the cons can be worked around. Queue times would be minimal, almost nonexistent. And if you don’t want to play with alliance, then don’t! Run a premade. Looks like everyone and their mom is basically doing this anyway.

I don’t want to see gnomes running around on horde side. There should just be an adjustment to the merc mode buff to work in a way where it allowed you to queue under the group leader’s faction. As alliance I want to have access to the horde racials when doing this. As a dwarf I would get the corresponding orc racials, which are good and fun to use in bgs. I think merc mode is great, it’s just that only one faction can use it on NA, but if I had a horde group leader then with a new merc mode buff I could queue up and have orc racials and an orc look it would be fun for me.
I still don’t get why factions are a thing still. Like yea lore I get it I played wc2 when it released.
Yet at this point it just hinders players and que times.

why did Blizzard not fix this? Blizzard fix it. You brought back Freehold for me. You improved the main town from being like the metal donut. I’m still waiting on Jaina and pirates. But please fix this. It has no reason. It’s keeping me from random bg with my guild right now. Ty.
meanwhile you see gnomes do literally 90% of the game’s content with horde players, get over it.
