So Classic is dead?

The funny thing is that in US / EU regions there are probably at least 25,000 active players so even by their own benchmark the game isn’t ‘dead’.

There are probably about 50-100k players that log into an Era character monthly but don’t play actively.

Lmao, gaslight better, bruh.

There are 17k characters with raid logs. There are plenty of people leveling and almost all of HC. Plus random people that just login but never found a raid or just to check it out.

It is a guess but I would not be shocked with those numbers.

You know that the the number of characters is not the number of players, right ?
And even players who barely log into era shouldn’t count as a real player because they actively play another version of wow. Thus, they don’t even care if era was deleted.
Era players love gaslighting about the number of leveling characters, but those are practically alts of other lvl 60s.
Devs don’t give af about era anymore. Era is just a subversion of SoD, which devs disables some features of SoD to be era.
Era has no updates, no attention, no new players except some few tourists coming once in a blue moon. It’s what a dead game is. Whatever you ask for QoL changes, such as remove debuff cap or fresh server, devs don’t care because they don’t need to care about a dead product.
It’s easy to see the difference between era and sod by looking at forum activities. You can find how many reponses in 1 hr between era forum n sod forum. The responses are made by people who are interested in that version of game not by “in-game characters”. Lol

And? The people playing Era don’t seem to be concerned about your doomsaying. Now run along and play your retail lite or Cata if that’s your thing. We’ll be fine without you. :slightly_smiling_face:

Lol, I am not doomsaying, I am just stating facts. You are just denying the truth and gaslighting new players into your dead game.

Yes you are doomsaying, same as a zillion other players who have declared Calssic was dad since it launched.
The only problem is we’re still here playing while they have all left.

I’m not here to lure anybody into playing anything. I’m all for freedom for everybody to play just what they like.

I am only here to tell the truth, that Classic is not dead, and that it will stay alive for a long time yet. If you don’t like it, don’t play it (nobody’s forcing, or even luring you), but stop spreading lies.

Rubbish. Again, run along and play the game you prefer.

era has enough players to be playable but endgame in era is pretty much card swipping at this point, unless you want to gear and buy consumables at a super snail pace compared to isellgold clients.

Only SoD and wrath are very active as endgame goes on.

Era servers are 5 years old and era itself is about 3 years old- and has already spun off 3 seasons:

  • SoM
  • Hardcore
  • SoD

Do you think they looked at Era metrics: activity levels, growth, churn, etc. and went ‘oh yeah look at that dead game we should make THREE seasons of it’!

Or perhaps Era’s metrics exceeded expectations, especially relative to other versions, and they are trying to get better insights into what the magic sauce is and how to recreate it.

If you want to make an amazing product it is better to start with something a few people really love, than something a lot of people kinda like.

Lmao, why don’t you say vanilla wow is not dead and spun into 4 versions of classic + retail, oh and heartstone. Not only gaslighting about leveling characters but also including other game versions into it. Kekw.

Do you think those other versions are whole new expansions of wow and not sub-versions of era?
Do you think SoM, Hardcore, or SoD would have existed if the population of Era was dead?

They exist because Era data showed there was demand for both Era and derivatives of it.

You think any classic version would exist if retail was dead. So all classic versions are just spin-off from retail. What is your point ? Lmao at era delusion.

Yes… it turns out that pservers were hosting vanilla 1.12 for prob a bit over a decade before blizz re-released it 2019.

Retail could collapse and people will still host vanilla pservers, the code is open sourced you can check it out yourself if you wanna learn a bit about how the game is architected.

Vanilla is a beautifully designed game and there is real demand for it.

huh ? what the heck are you spouting ? Private servers are private servers, it has nothing to do with retail classic servers. Classic servers were borned from retail. So they are off-springs of retail.
I was using your logic “oh because SoD was borned after classic era, so classic era is so great and alive” for sarcasm. Classic era is just dead. Being a spin-off from classic era or not, SoD has nothing with current era. You are just shamelessly gobbling SoD’s glory to fake your zombie servers.

That’s likely not what the data says.

SoD is the Era world + retail spells and QoL.

It is basically a messy version of Era. It is built on Era because there is something special about vanilla which the other versions lose, and that is likely reflected in the data which was analyzed when they decided to do SoM, HC, SoD.

To be clear, Era isn’t just the current ‘clone’ servers from tbc release, it is just referring to the vanilla versions of the game based on v1.12. SoD isn’t Era, but it is based on it.

It really is a waste of time and energy to feed these trolls. Have been on Era, and zones are populated and dungeons are being run.

Let the trolls seethe in their hatred.

HC at least is Era as well … SoM & even more SoD are based on Era would be a better way of expressing it. … but is this what you say? I suddenly am not sure.

That said HC and Era has roughly the same levelling population - Era for obvious reasons have more endgamers.

This statement is based on me playing Era and HC since launch, and on a quick look at AH and /who in a couple of brackets yesterday evening - EU side - I did not care to make toons on SoD only to check this out, and I only played SoM for a few weeks.

But I am totally in accordance with Caelen:

It IS a waste of time. But it is a time I am willing to waste to tell possible readers - and players of Era/HC/seasonal servers that Avillager and his ilk are not telling the whole truth.

Cause it is a wow forums and it was a simple question asked. Why are you here instead of playing the “alive” era, could be asked of you.
