Wouldn’t they be headed to other worlds to clean up whatevers left of the Legion? I mean they feed on demons so they’d go where the demons are right? And the PC is supposed to be a leader so they’d naturally go as well? I know that the Warlock/Demon Hunter heterosexual life partner duo are still at it. But he’s hanging out with a Warlock so that seems like hanging with a personal chief…surely everyone else would be going to literally greener pastures?
There are still pockets of demons left on Azeroth to deal with. The Broken Isles, the Broken Shore, all the other places that had heavy demon activity across the globe, those all have to be cleaned up, I would think.
No, our mission was to defend our world from the Legion. We only invaded their worlds to weaken their supply lines that would be used against us. The Legion isn’t gone, they just aren’t a direct threat to us any longer but there still remains threats (such as Sylvanas) for us to defend against.
But what are you using to fuel that defense if you don’t have any demons to eat? You can’t eat the souls of your slain enemies cause the Ebon Blade has that market cornered.
We don’t eat demons, we bind their essence to us to become a Demon Hunter. Once that process is done we don;t need to do it again. And it’s now like there aren’t demons out there any more.
I’d imagine lore-wise they were kind of granted the deal of the Death Knight. Allowed to choose their own path - also urged by Illidan, who still requires Azeroth to be protected from other threats + should any remnants of Demon Encampments come back / decide to meddle in dangerous affairs.
Given they were originally allowed to enter the ranks with the Legion on the rise - Then helped ultimately defeat them, I’d also imagine they ‘earned their place’ amongst their respected factions / peoples (Except for save-perhaps the Nightelves who are always xenophobic, racist and judgemental).
With threats looming around every corner, I’m sure they’d be utilised as a powerful asset & adversary, to have in one’s utilities to play forth when the situation, circumstances or other matter calls for it. The similar situation would go for Warlocks too I’d imagine.
Illidan has me locked in a pod till the next demonic invasion–conscious and all.
You’d think it sounds terrible, but our pods are loaded with felweed. We’re just chilling and waiting.
One day…
No offense to the blood elves but I think that would hold true for the blood elf demon hunters in many ways.
As for the night elf demon hunters I would say half and half. A lot would feel their roots to night elf culture keep them on Azeroth fighting Sylvanas.
I could also see a lot of Blood elves working witj Lady Liadrin and shepherding the Nightborne and perhaps refamiliarizing themselves with their “heritage”
But I do feel a good 50% of demon hunters might be doing exactly what you say.
It would also depend on the Slayer’s loyalties and how charismatic they were.
My dh would encourage any Night elfs to join her elite sentinel unit with her non DH sister.
My blood elf would ask for ways to assist said unit as his sister is married to my nelf dh.
So in that case Ashelois’s reality probably has a lot more demon hunters on Azeroth.
But a charismatic Night elf with Kayne Sunfury as their lieutenant could possinly take 80%+ of all demon hunters to other worlds to chase down the legion.
And I feel that even in the heaviest “Azeroth is my home” DH collectives at least 10-20% of DHs would focus on destroying liuetenants, pitlords, and other high end demon threats especially with a power vacuum.
We’re still around. But only the player “hero” is a Demon Hunter actively fighting against new threats such as the Void, being heroic and mercenary and all that fun stuff. I miss my Illidari brothers and sisters.
