Ya oddly when they announced the GDKP thing the population barely moved one way or the other.
After people decided they really hated the raid for phase 2 we saw drops and phase 3 between incursions and the raid being unpopular we saw a big drop. Only place anyone even talked about GDKP was here on the forums which should be a vacation since it’s a TOS thing in this form of the game.
As we saw with SoD, GDKP bans just resulted in people losing the biggest reason to make alts which caused the world to feel dead and empty after the initial wave of people hit 60, despite the fact SoD had a huge free exp boost and tons of conveniences for leveling, the population tanked immensely. Needless to say for an actual vanilla server with normal leveling, not having GDKPs to motivate alts is a death sentence, these servers will be ghost towns by BWL.
But badfaith kids who irrationally hate GDKPs even if it kills the game will be able to sh1tpost on the forums, and that’s all they care about.

People did GDKPs in the original WoW, not sure what you’re talking about.
Even if they weren’t, you can’t compare a brand new game in 2004 to a re-launch 20 years later.

I logged into SoD 2 days ago and the population was booming I saw hundreds of people just in Org. It is not on life support lol
