is there any drawback for Outlaw to use daggers?
You canât use abilities. Outlaw requires a sword/axe/mace/fist weapon on MH.
Oh, weird. Dispatch says requires âone handed melee weaponsâ but doesnât consider a dagger as a one handed melee weapon, wording must just be wrong.
If you go on the AH itâs the same thing. Thereâs individual tabs for one handed and daggers.
I want to try outlaw but I only have daggers =/
Itâs really weird that Outlaw canât use daggers. Itâs not like pirates arenât cutthroat bastards that wonât stab someone in the back, right?
You can use a dagger in the OH but its a dps loss if you have a one handed weapon thats equal ilvl
Yeah, but itâs still weird that we canât use it on the MH. I mean, itâs OK if itâs a DPS loss, but having the option to use it is still good if we donât actually have a good one-handed weapon because we were gearing for Subtlety or Assassination first.
The Fangs of the Father legendary daggers had the enhancement bonus for dagger Outlaw that increased Sinister Strike damage to compensate for not using 1-handed weapons if Iâm not mistaken. I mean, look at Fury Warriors that have the option to go for either Titanâs Grip or Single-Minded Fury. Why canât Outlaw have something similar?
Because daggers doesnât fit the pirate theme people seem to be in love with.
Pirates always had a saber and a pistol with maybe a dagger in the OH.
Those were legendaries.
Also before it became outlaw there was a modifier for sinister strike to do more damage with a dagger like Fangs however it was removed due to themes
I swear I donât remember Sinister Strike ever having a dagger modifier like hemo or Ambush (After they allowed it with 1 Hander). It was always %weapon damage +x.
Edit. Wowheadâs changelog has one build of 6.0.1 with a dagger modifier. But that may be something weird like Mut starter or whatever.
Pirates also use daggers, they arenât all swashbucklers. I see no issue with Outlaw having the option to use dagger, because going invisible/stealth and âsubtletyâ arenât traits shared by all pirates either, but we do have it.
It was a long time ago. I think it was in Cata when it was still combat but I am not 100% sure.
I personally am not bothered by outlaw using daggers. However when the theme of âgoes more toe to toeâ I can see why most people are going to go toe to toe with a dagger in the MH
That hasnât fit the theme for Outlaw in a long time. I mean, itâs the fantasy, but it doesnât reflect in the toolkit anymore aside from not being as reliant on Stealth (or Shadow Dance) as the other specs.
If âpirateâ was a theme they were in love with, they should have created a new class of weapons called âpistolsâ and had outlaw rogues equip them on their offhands. Legion already created new classes of weapons with warglaives and daggers (which used to be main, one, or offhand).
That would need a lot more abilities based on the pistols instead of just Pistol Shot and Between the Eyes, but I really wouldnât mind it.
