So, blizzard

you once again have said/done something without thinking, and ticked off a LOT of people. who’s the guy who keeps doing this? cause, you seriously need to fire them. your a multi-million (or is it billion?) dollar company, you’ve GOT to be able to keep crap like this from happening.

They are moving in the direction they think has most profits.

You put your capitals in the middle of your sentences where they really do not belong.

No, they thought about it. And they decided that one guy was not worth the revenue that comes from an entire country.

I feel for him. I do. It sucks like you wouldn’t believe. But real life isn’t filled with Disney villains lurking around every corner. It’s a bit more complex than that.

I’m pretty sure at this point they’re bringing in more money from China than another country.

They could shutdown all NA services and be fine.

Unless you’re China, they don’t give a damn what you think/say.

Praise Xi and may the organ harvest be plentiful this year.

not sure they did think about it. if they did, they would’ve had more than just the two announcers there. they would have had someone double/triple checking what he was gonna say. instead, they just left people to be people.

We are talking about a video game, not a state of the union speech.

Kinda like people trying to put a gaming company in the middle of a war between the Chinese people and their government.

Quite fitting tbh.

Want to change something? DO SOMETHING. Change how you live. Everybody likes to type out their outrage and then they go buy Chinese goods to save a buck.

Put your money where your mouth is, guys. Let’s see if anyone under 50 has the gonads to try to actually make things better by sacrificing something.

Not even close. You know their financials are public record right?

we’re talking about an interview that the announcers literally knew to duck beneath their table about. meaning, they knew what he was gonna say before he said it.

Many don’t understand that either. A large company is going to behave based on what’s best for the bottom line.

If Blizzard shows that it sides with the protesters, China can and probably will have Blizzard and all their products and games banned. That a huge loss in profit that Blizzard does not want to lost from their Asian market.

So while it’s unfair for those that Blizzard fired, or denied their prize money too, Blizzard did what they felt was needed to stay in the China market.

Yes, and it’s in their best financial interest to not host people who are going stir up this sort of political drama in the first place. Obviously.

True, plus the kid wanted publicity and blizzard increased that publicity. Blizzard’s action helped the cause, but the winner lost his money due to established rules. I see this a good result in total. Stop buying Chinese products if you don’t like censorship.

that is cowardice i would rather be part of a failing company doing the right thing than doing the wrong thing to keep my job personally

but i find i am not typical

Blizzard makes knee jerk decisions based on fear. Who’d have thought it would turn out badly for them?

You’re also very young.

The war or the moral statement? Yes Blizzard, go out there with guns and gear.

Get real.

Banning video game tournaments where people might say things would seem like the logical first step, no?

Wouldn’t that be more effective than crippling your own company and effectively doing nothing in the process?

You said to get real, but how is what I said above anymore real if they took that stance exactly?

Will you be happy if employees that work for Blizzard lose their jobs?

How about millions of gamers in China itself being denied access to their games because the government would ban it?

What would it take for you to be happy since you wanna dictate what their company should do?
