So Blizzard, can we expect a fix to the Battle.net services or is this just how it is now?

Getting pretty tired of the “You are now connected/disconnected to/from Battle.net services” messages every five minutes.

Ask on the Battlenet forums? That’s not a WoW issue, that’s a Bnet issue.

Literally only happens with WoW.

So no, it’s a WoW issue lol

When I’m disconnected from Bnet friends, my entire Bnet friends is down, not just in WoW.

It’s WoW specific. The launcher works fine and you can talk in group chats in the launcher.

It has been happening on higher pop servers since pre-patch and is happening every single day quite frequently since early access. It’s sad and pathetic that there is no acknowledgement or comment from Blizzard.

Everyone I know on Illidan gets it. You can’t use guild chat in-game 75% of the time or see who is online in-game.

Poor communication leaves us hanging. I know of a video game that talks with their community every week on twitch and they mention the problems that are discussed on the forums and they tell us when they’re working on it and when we should expect a fix. They’re truly great devs.

That’s not a new thing. I’ve randomly gotten that message for many years. Doesn’t actually do anything.

It annoys people.

You know what? That’s fair.

What’s new is the frequency of it happening and it does actually mean something.

While you are disconnected from Blizzard services you can not speak or see messages in guild chat or other community/group chats on bnet in-game. You also can’t see who is online in your in-game friends list.

On Illidan almost every day since early access Blizzard Services chains disconnects especially during peak hours. It seems like after they made some changes to it for TWW it can’t handle higher population servers currently (at least that’s my guess since some people aren’t getting it and one person commented that they only get it on higher pop servers).

Ah, fair enough. I guess I just outed myself for being extremely antisocial

I think it’s related to cross faction/cross server guilds.

When I am on this toon which is on Bloodhoof, and in a Bloodhoof guild I have 0 issues.

If I am on my Horde however which is in a guild both on a different server, and a different faction, my services is disconnected far more then it works. It’s so frustrating as that toon plans to raid with that guild, and I lose my entire friends list and such in game.

…it’s a battlenet issue though… isn’t it.

just because it only happens under a certain set of circumstances, doesn’t mean that it’s a wow issue.

it’s weird how people ask for a fix, then choose to push back when they get told to post in the appropriate place.

:woman_shrugging:

Well the desktop app bug report section certainly is not the correct place since it’s an in-game WoW issue and doesn’t affect the desktop app/launcher at all.

it’s… literally battlenet.
try opening wow via the .exe
does bnet work without loading the app?

The desktop app bug report section has nothing to do with what is being discussed in this thread.

It is a forum to report issues with the launcher.

the launcher is what controls the ingame chat.
it’s not an issue with the mobile version if it’s happening inside the game.

even if it was an issue with the game, this still isn’t the right place to report issues.

It’s been ongoing since pre-patch. The point of this and many other threads is not to report a well-known issue at this point but to try to get some kind of response since Blizzard has ignored it since pre-patch.

No.

no?
maybe things have changed in the last … million years.

you used to be able to bypass connecting to bnet by launching from the exe… is that not possible any more?

bnet is a base part of the game now?

doesn’t sound right, but again, if there’s an issue, it needs to be reported.

i spend quite a bit of time browsing bug reports… and haven’t seen any reports of this.
if an issue needs attention, it needs to be posted where it will be seen by the people who need to see it.

this isn’t EU.
blues don’t come and chit-chat when they don’t have any information to pass on.

The launcher and the game have their own independent connections to Blizzard services I would imagine.

You can exit the launcher entirely while the game is running for example and the game continues to run independently just fine and you can still use chat (assuming you aren’t experiencing the issue discussed in this thread).

As I already mentioned, when you are disconnected from Blizzard services in-game, the launcher chat still works just fine. You can chat in group chats in the launcher while unable to do so in-game. Your launcher friends list works while your in-game one does not. You can whisper people via the launcher but not in-game.

I’m pretty confident they are already aware of the issue and that the issue is likely affecting thousands of people since it seems to be a bigger problem on larger servers (just basing that anecdotally on what other people are saying).

last two are different threads with the same name

etc

My theory is they made some changes for TWW and didn’t properly test them with larger pop servers. Similar to how the AH database change issues came about. There is probably some technical limit/hurdle on larger servers with how they interact with Blizzard services.
