I would honestly not expect so. MoP is pretty much where modern WoW systems started to get integrated into the game. For those that didn’t know, this is why there are never any Mythic+ dungeons from before MoP, because the dungeons are so mechanically different on opposite sides of the line between Cata and MoP that balancing them isn’t feasible for delivering a timely product for each season, especially considering all of the staffing issues and lay offs.
I also kind of saw Remix: Pandas as kind of a line in the sand, releasing it before Cataclysm within a similar time frame. It is a direct highlight to the systemic differences I mentioned before, even, since MoP is current enough to directly patch an event onto without having to rebuild the old code for it.
I hope so. WOD was my favorite xpack but I got a late start 1st time. I wasn’t subbed at all for shadowlands so missed that altogether. I don’t feel like the chromie time version in retail does any xpack justice so really can’t go by that whatsoever.

Years ago when Blizzard announced Classic TBC would be released, I just assumed they’re doing something similar to EverQuest progression servers. So essentially releasing expansions in order to give those interested, a fresh playthrough of the entire game.
Of all the 10’s or 100’s of millions who have paid for an account since WoW released, only a small fraction has played every single expansion. So there’s certainly a market for progression servers, whether it’s people wanting to relive their past or people who missed it the first time around.

Legion maybe. They can skip WoD AFAIC
Though to be fair I only have a few months experience there originally and some more through Chromie. Garrison stuff I found dull and annoying.

It’d be cool if chromie time was integrated into retail and when you elected for a version it literally reloaded the world into the classic version of that game as it was in classic.

Garrison is what I loved most about it. I HATED legion because they killed garrison stuff to inflate that batch of incoming BS

I thought the same. Though a lot of the best content in the likes of WoD is the raids from what I’ve gathered and doing the dungeons classically might be difficult alone in the old world.

The garrison set up stuff at the outset, after the dumb dark portal escape intro always burns me out in chromie time.
I’d play through WoD again just to see if my low opinion of it holds, it probably will but w/e.

Looking forward to logging into all that gold from my mission board quests before the big nerf. I had a several month stretch of paying my sub with tokens, even having started late and not having half as many followers as most people had.
Neither. If I remember correctly ESO was my main game mid? mop and I effectively quit retail early WoD. I’m am old though so dates… going on one and remembering one is less likely.
i can hardly imagine them doing shadowlands classic
i hope by then theyll introduce “all expansions” servers
bc no ones gonna play that garbage.
I would play classic bfa because i missed out but other than that nah.
I assume they’ll take it as far as Legion, but might stop as early as MoP.
I think the modern retail version of the game really emerged with BFA. BFA & SL were when the level squish, major class changes, chromie time, and the modern philosophy of WoW emerged, as well as the death, figuratively or literally, of many classic lore characters (Thrall, Varian, VolJin, Sylvanas).
I think the real question i have is, what do they do when they’ve got all the expansions released through classic?
Classic expac releases are outpacing retail expac releases, so eventually down the line classic will catch up to retail, what do we do then?
I’m going to complain about how they are complaining that you are complaining.
Everything before wod was markedly superior to it, but everything after does make wod look a lot better lol. Going from MoP to WoD was a gut punch & lotssss quit. If only we knew what was coming

What would be funny is if blizz did a legion remix where folks can earn the original mage tower skins and when the season ended it would transfer over to retail I could see alot of folks doing that just for the mage tower og alone.
I don’t play retail anymore but I would 100% play this just for mage tower challenges alone

It will go until its not profitable. Each expansion it probably gets easier to plug in the next expansion as systems get more aligned and data is more available. So probably easier and easier to produce. I mean MoP is the start but then WOD to BFA is essentially the same talent system and class design after all.
So yeah, if players keep playing it probably just keeps rolling. The bad bits can speed up. The good bits can be allowed to breathe.
Where it will get confused is as it gets closer and closer to retail.
