When do the classic expacks end? Is there actually any market demand for stuff like classic BfA or classic Shadowlands? I don’t mind Cata and MoP but a part of me hopes that blizz has some sort of plan going ahead that isn’t just “rerelease every single expack” because I don’t think many people want to play “Classic” shadowlands lmfao
The answer to that question is “That is entirely up to Blizzard” While classic xpacs continue to hold the interest of players i suspect the answer is “yes” While I have no proof, I supect Blizzard, like any other company, does a cost/benefit analysis on major business decisions.
I don’t know but I do think we will be getting at the very least MoP. My real dream is for legion classic but I don’t see it happening because they’d have to skip or run us through WoD
i think eventually they will release all expansions, having every thing through this new trilogy eventually be considered classic, be a good time to have wow 2 come out as the new retail.
I’d love some WoD because of the best Dps spec to ever grace the game with Glad stance warrior.
With that said what would be extremely cool is if WoD was Classic +. They never finished WoD and decided to work on Legion. “What If” they decided to actually put out all the content in WoD. Add in the 6.3 that was originally planned.
If WoD had the content of Legion it would of been the best expansion of all time.
I think it could be viable if those expansions were compressed. For example, I think WoD is viable if it lasted 7 or 8 months.
When they stop being worth the development cost
Why is that a problem? If it eventually reaches an expansion you don’t want to play you can just…not play it
I have no interest in playing BFA myself. But who knows, maybe in 2028 my opinion might change. The expansion will be 10 years old then
Classic “The War Within” 2032 confirmed.
WOD will unironically be good, just with quicker phases but they may change a few things as well like the cost of those apexis crystals.
It will be funny to see all the “were we too harsh on WOD?” videos after WOD Classic comes out.
“Legion classic”, the very expansion where the outcry for vanilla was at its height and blizzard finally got convinced to create classic servers. The irony is calling legion “classic” is immeasurable.
No, horrible take. Legion was massively popular and the best version of nu-wow they ever made. It’s the best theme park MMO ever. It’s a fully opposite community from vanilla, there is zero reason for you to be doing the same garbage wall of no posters did. One will not take players away from the other.
You make me ashamed to be a vanilla enthusiast. Clean up your act.
My tin foil is bfa bombed and sl was dying too.
Classic became sub bait. Effective bait too. I’ve paid a sub to be classic focused since mid sl. Df I lasted 3 weeks. To level and gear 1 char. And go yeah…no.
I just like legion my guy no need to get bent outta shape
Considering how horribly buggy the cata pre-patch and launch have been, it feels like Blizzard should reconsider their competence when it comes to launching any more classic expansions.
what’s funny is people said the same thing about cataclysm classic when 2019 classic was announced
yet here we are. 90% of these cata players are just classic andy’s huffing hopium unable to let go of their classic chars, so Blizz internally prob ran the numbers and decided it was just best to move onto cata
I see it stopping after MoP though
Lol you are just denying reality and living in your personal fantasy world if you are going to claim this is a take. The push for classic was during legion, this is an objective fact. It’s indisputable.
The vanilla private server scenes peak and the big push to get official classic realms happened during legion. Remember the announcement of the argus patch at blizzcon, and the crown bombed it during screaming “legacy”, which then enticed blizzard to invite the team that made nostalrious to come to blizzard HQ and discuss vanilla realms?
If you want legion that’s fine, but you are the exact opposite target audience blizzard went for when they made classic servers. Cope and seethe. Legion “classic” would be the most ironic thing blizzard has ever made.
Hot take, Classic shouldn’t have hit Cata, it’s why the Classic craze started to begin with. Or rather the casualization of Wrath did at the later end of the expansion.
Instead of Classic Cataclysm, we should have gotten Cataclysm Reforged or whatever. Not in the vein of Pandaria’s Remix powercreep event, but a time limited reoccuring event that revisits the game’s past expansions post Cata. Timewalking is a thing but I think we all can agree Pandaria Remix was far, far more engaging.
And might I add, it would greatly improve the new player experience too since those expansions are dead outside of alt powerlevel speedruns. I only subbed to WoW because I missed out on Pandaria back in the day myself, doing it via timewalking would have been a depressing experience…
Classic should have been remained alone, or drift into an entirely different timeline on it’s own where the Alliance and Horde eventually snuffs the other party out. Could even make that an expansion in the future for retail WoW as well. Can’t be any worse than what Shadowlands had done
I think the basis for these “classic” XPS was that newer players never got to experience that part of the game. Vanilla/bc was truly a wild era in azeroth. Personally, I did the vanilla grind. The bc grind. The wotlk grind. I really don’t wanna go back to that lol so I just choose not to play it. The panda remix is tight tho.
Yes, exactly. I don’t get why this question keeps coming up. Like every other company on the planet Blizzard wants to make money. As long as the expansions keep making money they will keep releasing them. When Classic starts losing money they will stop releasing expansions.
No. The push for classic came from WoD. I was running the largest NA guild on nost, which was starting to die, and wod blew us up. You can’t argue with me lmao, I might as well have written the history as I was actually there in the middle of it.
The tbc and vanilla servers I was playing on both DIED because of legion.
WoD was peak bad, but the response to legion was GREAT. People only hated the legendary system, which was fixed and will launch fixed. BFA being hot trash really helped sure.
