Baby, here, since you’re apparently still not getting it
It. Is. Not. A. Night Elf. Zone.
I know you don’t understand this and it’s okay, it really is.
I know this is really hard for you to grasp.

You didn’t address any of the points? The crafting of the zone is meticulously night-elf only. No other race is bound to night or forest as night elves are – and that’s ALL THE ENTIRE ZONE IS with the except of what the Drust have destroyed. The zone has stars falling from trees, Tirna which there is one for each of the World Trees to whom only Night Elves are bound. No other race has stars so tightly bound to them. Night elf theme plays, no other race has the night elf theme bound to them. Ysera appears, no other race is so tightly bound to her. The avatar of Elune states her worshipers are destined for Ardenweald.
Repeating it doesn’t make it true.
Edit: Vaara, you addressed race by saying “Well Blizzard designed them that way” as if that somehow excuses it. Yes. They designed them that way. Then they designed this zone the way they designed night elves.
Head pat Honest question, hows that victim complex working out for you? I mean, I know you’re desperate for it to be a night elf zone, because of two chapters dealing with the Night Warrior and elven souls. But that doesn’t make the whole zone a night elf zone.
But go ahead baby, keep ignoring the things that are incapable to you’re desperate NEED of it wanting it to be a night elf zone.
Except I did. Here, let me do it bit by bit for you since you seem to have difficulty engaging in discussion.
“Night Elf Ardenweald”
Nature Ardenweald
“Night Elf Theme music”
Kaldorei/All Elf Music
“Night Elf Tirna Trees”
Made up crap you never bothered to try and explain
“Night Elf World Trees”
Not even in Ardenweald, thus, irrelevent
“Night Elf dragon aspect”
Titan dragon aspect, created by a Titan named Eonar
“turned Night Elf Wild God”
Just Wild God, who is friendly towards nature-respecting races, which is predominantly Night Elves, yes, but also includes Tauren and any other race who embraces Druidism.
“Night Elf cutscenes”
Citation please.
The celestial trees are really not world trees. They have a practical function beyond just being giant magical trees. They gather up anima coming in and then rain it down. The anima rain from the trees forms the basic building block for the food chain of Ardenweald.
I wouldn’t bother, I honestly don’t know why I bother engaging him half the time. He’s not going to admit he’s wrong. He’s just going to double down and keeping insisting he’s right because those pesky genocided night elve souls just had to show up. I mean, how dare those pesky souls! Don’t they know the forsaken had it worse for loosing just a capital?!
Grabs popcorn
Nope, it just a hub for Bwonsamdi that Mueh’zala is trying to take for the Jailer. Kinda like a pocket dimension inside of a pocket dimension
Wat?
Ok. I’m tired of playing nice, because you know that exactly is not the entirety of the argument here.
Is it great that we have yet another in the ever-growing series of troll-themed dungeons? Sure, absolutely. And kudos to Blizzard for shoehorning in some Vol’jin stuff late in the Ardenweald campaign. Legit, I am happy we got that much.
But boiling down everyone who is pointing out the very clear parallels between Ardenweald, a magical forest full of fae-inspired beings, with magical trees and motes of energy around them, with wild gods, with Ysera and her history of night elf affiliation, with walking and talking freaking tree people (different tree people to be sure, but you literally only see one player race affiliated with talking plantlife on Azeroth), with the prominent race in the area having skintones of blue and purple, with a heavy connection to the Emerald Dream, with…
God. Seriously, this shouldn’t need to be explained time and time again. Any other zone with half of that? Any other time in the game’s history? Nobody would question that the zone is, at the very least, night elf themed. Hell, those zones with even half of it are widely accepted as being traditionally night elf zones.
But here some of you are, gnashing your teeth and pulling your hair to deny those very themes even count. “Ysera’s got like, NO HISTORY with night elves”, “betcha think Grizzly Hills is night elf, cuz trees”, “you know, like five weeks ago a tauren went to the ED, so that makes it utterly untied to night elfses”, “I once saw a crazed orc talk to a tree, and he said it talked back, so I guess that makes him a night elf lol” and crap like that.
Edit cuz I wasn’t finished and it posted anyway.
The initial complaint is we were told to expect “nearly as much troll stuff as night elf stuff” which, needless to say, not only hasn’t happened, but does not seem to be the case given the overall feel of the zone.
And if we were just told, as originally everyone was, that nothing from either faction would be in the Shadowlands?
Cool.
But then they went back. Then they made a statement that, as per Blizzard, isn’t even remotely true. Troll presense in Ardenweald, troll themes, troll… Anything is limited to a dungeon and storylines I can’t do for a while yet.
It’s great that after four years, we’re getting some final resolution to the story of the Five Minute Warchief. I’m happy to have those two chapters. I’m even happy to get told off by Tyrande and Shandris while I’m saving night elf souls from Torghast. I honestly dig that.
Does it suck that once more a female character must lose her vast power because if she doesn’t, she’ll become a raid boss? Absolutely. That isn’t “anti-night elf”, because Blizzard saves those stories for their female characters regardless of race.
Jaina got a power-up and had to lose that power, settle herself down, lose this whole killing the Horde attitude, or she’d become a raid boss.
Now Tyrande got a power-up and had to lose that power, settle herself down, lose this whole killing the Horde attitude, or she’d become a raid boss.
Sylvanas got her own power up, chose not to settle herself down, doesn’t mind killing herself some Horde or Alliance for that matter, and is right on track for becoming a raid boss.
Blizzard writing their female characters poorly does not affect in any way whether or not trolls should have gotten something more than a dungeon and some quests we’re waiting on. It’s just their poor handling of women.
Carry on.
I feel like yesterday we’d hit a point where the thread was starting to be productive and it just dissolved all over again and i’m sad about that
I think, at this point, this is the designated slap fight thread.
It is a collection of pent up frustrations related to the story and the handling of various topics of interest, such as the races and themes of death.
Everyone is being more productive in this thread getting it out in this manner than letting it stew to the point that harm is wished upon the player behind the character.
Let’s yell at each other over a short stack.
Your argument is self defeating because you already have admitted that night elves – and night elves alone – are built around nature.
Actually! This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a loa do this.
Quetz’lun, the Drakkari winged serpent loa, created her own pocket realm moments before her death so she could rip the souls out of her traitorous priests so she could spend eternity torturing them for trying to consume her power.
Blizz never said this
Jaina has as much power now as she does in BFA and she was a raid boss
She still currently has that power and we don’t know what’s going to happen to it or her
I know you’re still new, but I thought it was obvious I wasn’t talking about BfA Jaina. I was talking Tsunami Jaina, who had to settle herself down. And then did.
Sorry, I used past tense and should have used present. That part you are correct on.
If you think this story arc ends with her keeping her Night Warrior power, then you should look into the Night Fae storyline. It’s already telegraphing that the power is corrupting/killing her. We know she’s either giving up that power, or dying. So yeah, we do know what’s going to happen to her. Because the game has told us.
I’m pretty sure they’re going to divvy up the NW power between all of the female night elf hero characters.
So help me god, if they go Buffy the Vampire Slayer Finale on this…
What makes you think I’m new? I’ve been playing since vanilla and have been posting on the lore forums since atleast Cata on various alts, a few of which have variations of this character’s name. But no, it wasn’t obvious you were talking about Tides Of War Jaina. Who has been on a roller-coaster of aggression and settling down since then.
If neither of this happens, keep me in mind.
I mean… She got her power-up. She settled down. What other possible point in her history could you consider that I’m talking about?
And when I’m proven right, which we both know I will be, I expect you to try and straw-pull some half-baked argument for how I’m wrong. I’m already picturing the argument…
“Well you said she had to give it up, but the Winter Queen or whoever told her she needed to or she’d die, so she didn’t really choose to give it up! She just chose not to die!”
So many things.
