Every 50 dungeons you do as a non tank will require you to clear 1 (at appropriate level) to be allowed to dps again

What does this have to do with understanding what tanks want and giving it to them?

I can’t tell whether you’re dismissing me or disagreeing or agreeing with me. If you don’t wanna give tanks what tanks actually want, then what is the point of any of this?

The point is to have fun, not be utility for other players. It absolutely 200% needs to be a focus.

Vengeance wasn’t even a “back in my day” thing, it was literally in MoP. If you didn’t play MoP then maybe you were born like 5 years ago, I dunno.

They weren’t 10s, idk if I would ever take a brand new tank to a 10. They were mostly sub 10 keys so they were mainly just for learning/alts. If any of the people who say that they get flamed for tanking see this, please just look up a guide on routes/class mechanics first before tanking anything past like a 6 or 8.

We can implement the ping pong method, where everyone gets a fade like priests, then mobs ping pong back and forth between DPS/heals.:upside_down_face:

Like I said, if you are calling a 3200 IO tank a bad tank then your argument is ridiculous and you are just digging your heels in.

When did I claim you were bad? You’re just focusing in on this because either your ego was damaged (which wasn’t intended) or you’re just arguing to argue.

When you make blanket statements like this and can’t understand how you are terribly wrong. It has nothing to do with my ego. You just can’t admit that people can believe that the pug tank shortage is due to the community without also being bad.

I’d say it’s more so the community doesn’t want to tank because of the play styles and role, not because people are mean to them.

Oh I believe people think that for sure. I 100% admit that.

The way ffxiv does it is there is no specs at all and even no gear variation at top level. Armor classes (cloth leather mail plate) share gear tier sets and the player chaaracters have access to every class theyve leveled.

Basically WoW’s system is overly complex and more like a korean p2w system that decided to offer all talents for free and free respecs, than modern day streamlined subscription mmos which don’t utilize talents because they are a really dumb system that adds extra levels of imbalance and issues in both pve and pvp content.

That being said, the closest game to come close to balancing talents was WoW. Was being the key word. Balance is much easier to attain when you don’t have variables such as talents.

Having 4 DPS instead of 3 would have a huge impact on queues.

But likely requires a lot of effort by Blizzard and they are just too small a company to commit the resources.

True - the bigger self sustain that tanks had back in DF allowed tanks to survive and prevent wipes when PUG DPS did dumb stuff in dungeons.

Now you need to be much more careful as a tank as well - for me this means I tank in guild groups with friends only, no more PUGs.

They need to give Tanks some fun and interesting unique gameplay. There’s just not anything fun about maintaining basic mitigation and then occasionally using a real DR when tank busters come in. It’s boring.

DPS classes get to play around offensive CDs where they’re trying to hit an efficient execution of their abilities. Tanks don’t get to really do anything like that. And if they can’t do this they (and the community) just need to swallow the damn pill and let tanks do closer to DPS level damage.

The least they could do is give Tanks more flashy abilities so it’s at least entertaining to watch.

Yep most games give tanks fun abilities and damage rotations beyond “spam 1 and 2, proc 3”.

You could give tanks what theyre asking for but that doesnt really fit the role then does it? If tanks can pump out as much (or close to) the damage dps roles do, who would even play dps at all anymore? A chart topper or contender that can shake off even the craziest boss mechanics and self heal? Actually, that may even knock out all roles. Everybody play tank!

Seriously though, IMHO, there has to be a way to give tanks something without taking away from the other roles. So, i agree with you to give tanks something, im just not sure dps is the answer.

I get what youre driving at, but i think i still prefer defined roles and boundaries for class/role combos. I like how wow has it set up. But ive also been in it a long, long time. I could see gettinf away from talents, but then i worry there would be literally no customization at all. Pick tank, get these 6 abilities?

IDK, maybe i should try the FF one youre talking about. Is it on PS5?
