That doesn’t raise the intrigue of the old gods themselves though. 
These “Old Gods” could simply not exist and be some weird cult thing, and the followers would still be more interesting.
The Cults actions never made me wonder “Hmm, I wonder what their supposed god is, or what it’s doing.”
Titans is waaaaaaay less interesting. I’ll take Void Lords over Titans any day.

Shadowlands is quasi trying to be new… but it’s covenant system still makes me hate it so far.

P.S now that I’ve read a bit more in this topic, I agree. “Gods” are only interesting when they’re lore. They’re universally disappointing when you actually get to meet them in just about every medium.

If it’s not orc, human, or undead elf boobs, I think you’re out of luck.
In 11.0, we’re going to travel to another planet to fight more Old Gods.

Just my opinion but when you try to make Gods a physical reality or actual beings to defeat, it makes the story comical and to me uninteresting, There is a certain mystic when Gods stay in the shadows pulling the strings, I feel this expansion will be just a another fit a square peg in the round hole expansion and uninteresting & waste of time to me. (imho)

They shouldn’t be called “Old Gods”
They aren’t gods.
Which is yet another issue I have with these stupid things.
They have an over inflated ego.
Whatever you want to call them, I feel we wont kill them, we may subdue them but wont kill them, I hope not but i fear, we will walk away from this expansion feeling like we did nothing but waste time, it sucks but its a for see-able ending when your fighting old gods. (imho)

re-origination beam to the face, something about heart of azeroth focusing the beam, and like all the old god corruption being cleansed off Azeroth.
I don’t know all the details, it’s just the story spoilers.
I just want to know that we’re taking a break from the old god stuff after 8.3 with the gods being 'Dead" and not revisiting them for a while.
To be frank this is the first full powered old god we fight.

I’ve always wished they did more with the old gods and their followers. They should have been a constant threat instead of small pockets here and there across expansions. To me, they are one of the more unique things about WOW. Every High Fantasy RPG has dragons, monsters, and things that go bump in the night. The Old Gods and their followers were different.
I will be sad if they drop the storyline.

The Pantheon believed that Azeroth would be the only Titan capable of dealing conclusively with the Old Gods and the Void Lords, so its not all that stunning her Heart could be the thing that puts an end to it all.
