So account wide rep when?

This really needs to be implimented before next xpansion at the very least.

do we really need to spend more time every time we level alts up to gear up having to refarm that damn nightmare reputation?

its time to sync it already.

It’s unlikely to ever happen. This is something Ion already covered a long time ago. It doesn’t make to have character A do all the work earning reputation and getting known by a faction, and then have character B just waltz in like he’s already a recognized hero.

However I am all for Blizzard adding faster ways to earn rep for alts. Rep tokens like we have had in Shadowlands and previous expansions, rep tabards, account wide consumables which grant passive rep buffs etc. That way you still have to earn the rep on your alts, but doing so takes a quarter of the time it did on your main.

Nah. That’s just a convienient excuse. The real reason they wont unify rep across all toons is because there would be no grind left for the casual player. Blizzard would lose a key time gating component.

You’re reaching further than Reed Richards.

If they really thought that, then there would not be any fast rep gain items at all and we’d still be dealing with the reputation gains we saw in vanilla and warlords of draenor. Meaning go and farm thousands and thousands of mobs for 5 rep per kill until you either get to exalted or ragequit out of sheer frustration.

They made old rep a joke how you can just buy it off the TW vendor. I don’t see how it has value anymore. I agree, account wide rep. As an option that can be toggled on or off

Like Faerilea is saying, the older the rep is, the easier it is to grind in a lot of cases. Timbermaw rep is a prime example. The point at which the rep can no longer effectively timegate is the point when Blizzard eases restrictions on farming it.

Okay, so why are reps in Shadowlands so easy to get then?

So many world quests offer rep tokens, there are the callings which offer large amounts of rep. Even the Enlightened rep in Zereth Mortis is easy to farm.

If Blizzard was really doing what you claim they’re doing, then none of those reps would be easy to farm. Blizzard would be making it as difficult as possible to drag it out as long as they could, because not every player is going to have alts, so they gotta make sure everyone is grinding right?

And yet that’s not the case and it never has been. During every expansion since TBC it’s been insanely easy to level reputations thanks to rep tabards (WotLK and Cata), the championing system and rep increase buffs (MoP) and rep tokens (WoD after 6.2 dropped, Legion, BFA and Shadowlands).

The simple fact is you want a nefarious reason for Blizzard not giving you the convenience you want, rather than accepting the reason you were given, which makes logical sense from a gameplay and story perspective.

The expansion is over… Its no different than farming rep tokens for the Sons of Hodir at this point.

Bit of a strawman there. That aside, story has been pretty lacking for a while now, so that definitely isn’t a priority on their list.

As for game play, you’re gonna have to explain how grinding adds anything to game play. By definition, “Grinding” refers to the playing time spent doing repetitive tasks within a game to unlock a particular game item or to build the experience needed to progress smoothly through the game.

I mean, even the text book definition stops just shy of calling it time gating.

Literally no changes have been made to reputations since 9.0. Try again. They have not been made easier since Shadowlands launched. They were easy already. At best you could argue that the addition of Korthia in 9.1 and the covenant invasions gave another source of rep, but that change was made half way through the expansion, not at the end. No buffs or changes to rep gain from tokens etc have been made.

With almost every thing being account wide (mounts, pets, mogs, tabards, toys, titles), it’s really stupid to me that rep isn’t account wide. The only thing it does is like, prevents your alt from buying a recipe.

And they can stop people from abusing alts by limiting how much rep your account can get weekly. So someone with one character is getting as much rep as someone with 50 each week.

Boom. Done.

I gotta say, acc wide rep would make paragon caches a LOT easier and more fun. Getting exalted with all the SL reps is sooooooooo long if you’re just doing callings.

How necessary was it to grind those now-older reputations after the following patch came out? If you were serious about raiding, by the time 9.1 came out, you had your BiS legendary at that point.

I’d also still point out that regardless of how easy you see it, a grind is still a grind, and does not inherently add anything to game play or story.

None of those reputations offered BiS legendaries. All the BiS legendaries for classes either dropped from dungeons, raids or Torghast. Now if Blizzard had made it so that you could equip more than one legendary from 9.0, well that would be different, because some of them could have been used as a second non-BiS legendary (although there were better options from other sources even then).

Essentially the only reason you would want the rep was for the cosmetics. Not for anything that granted power.

THere is going to be some rep sharing with alts in DF.

Stuff like story opened with renown will be account but stuff that gives gear upgrade won’t . Also it has no affect on pre DF content so old rep is by character.

Game Director Ion Hazzikostas and Principal Narrative Designer Steve Danuser talked to Taliesin and Evitel about Dragonflight in their Twitter Space conversation and here are the highlights.

Interview Highlights

  • Dragonflight Alpha is coming soon (without ™).
  • There will be no mission table in Dragonflight.
  • The team’s actively working on moving from borrowed power systems to maintaining evergreen systems, like talents.
  • “Nearly everything in Dragonflight will be account-wide”. This refers to the expansion’s features like Dragonriding and story completion, not necessarily old features/achievements, etc., and not some parts of the new reputations (like gear unlocks).
