Call them whatever you want, Tinkers, Mechanic, Technician, Engineer, Whatever.
It’s completely absurd that this game lacks a Technology focused class when Such things have been omnipresent in the universe for over 25 years.
Warcraft 2 was 25 years ago, and even it had Goblin Sappers, Gnomish Flying Machines, Zeppelins, Submarines
Warcraft 3 Went much bigger into it, Still had Sappers and Flying machines, but also Goblin Shredders, Dwarven Mortar Teams and Seige engines. Even a “Tinker” Hero unit, Just like a Death Knight or a Demon Hunter.
In Vanilla, we still saw the Venture. Co Across all of Azeroth, And Fizzle and Pozzik in the Salt Flats. Plenty of quests involving tech, shredders, and of course the Samophlange.
Burning Crusade saw plenty of Gnomes in Mechs. Chaos orc Technicians, and various Horde and Alliance war Machines
WotLK saw the first introduction of the Mechagnomes, the various Titan constructs of Ulduar, the Oil field. And of course the Mechano-Hog. Which everyone wanted.
And then there was Cataclysm. Which saw an important introduction to World of Warcraft. The Goblins, a primarily Tech focused race to exist as a Horde counterpart to the Gnomes.
From that day forward, a Tinker class has only made sense. We have Two races who’s entire culture is BUILT around technology, and no Technology focused class to play. It’s honestly really disappointing that you can be a Goblin and be surrounded by Shredders, Mechs, explosives, ETC. and be limited to playing something like a Hunter, who’s stuck using Arrows and Animal aspects.
Hopefully Blizzard will add a class that embraces the uniqueness of the Warcraft Universe. A Class the represents an omnipresent part of the Universe. A Class that fits Goblins and Gnomes like a glove.
TL;DR: We’ve seen Technology uses in the Universe for 25 years, but don’t have a Technology class, even though we have Goblins and Gnomes.
Tinkers for 10.0
