What did it say again?
Something about Wow-Classic-would-never-happen?
My memory is fuzzy. I must be mistaken.

Probably evolved into “shoulda-never-happened”… which is where I’m at. Waste of dev resource on something most players will not play long-term. Much rather they put that time into current WoW to fix stuff.

It wasn’t so much a “No” as it was us looking wistfully through the antique shop window and being told “You don’t really want that, it’s old, you want this new hotness instead.”
When yeah, we really wanted that old thing because it was neat and had sentimental value.
Should of stayed with no. Giving in to a small group of thieves and freeloaders is a bad idea.
Hundreds of thousands*
Not even that. Even the most popular thief hideout had 150k ACCOUNTS (Not players. ACCOUNTS) active after 12 months. A free game. That was supposedly “wanted by everyone” and over 80 percent of it’s player base ABANDONED it in less than 12 months. And blizzard wants to tap into this useless deadbeat playerbase why?
They’re not going to PAY for it. They didn’t play it when it was FREE. Ridiculous.
No wonder their stock is down, they’re making dumb business moves like classic.
You understand there were hundreds of these and you probably only heard of the US ones and not the ones from EU right?
Most of them had next to nothing in the terms of players. Most of them didn’t even have 1000’s of accounts. Even if you added them all up you wouldn’t even get 500k accounts that are active right now, again, for a FREE game.
Why in the blue hell would anyone want to try to convert such a small worthless playerbase into paying customers? Blizzard are better off ditching classic and working on new games that people will actually play and PAY for.
Because there is literally market demand for it. Which nets them money.
It’s like WoW managed to stay the top MMO for 14 years because Blizzard knows a thing or two more than your average GD poster.
Yeah, Blizzard does such great business moves, like diablo immortal. Classic is just another misstep in Blizzards recent history. Like BFA, like WoD, like Diablo immortal, like heros of the storm, like classic.
Diablo Immortal isn’t Blizzard it’s a Chinese company.
And guess what they will still make millions off of it.
Do you even know how much Blizzard props up Activision?
WoW alone covers for all it’s other games expenses for development.
Considering the wall of no was last updated 4 years ago, it has already been memorialized on mmo champion, no point in beating that horsey any more.
Exactly, creating Classic sounds like an Activision money-grab idea.
Pull resources from the main-game, split the player-base; all for short term bump in profits. The deleterious effects on the game will last for years however - it is just smells of an Activision move.
Happy Sunday Everyone.
Except the introduction of the token seemed to squash gold seller ads for a long time, the boost seemed to put leveling sellers out of business.
How many ads have you seen for these things since those two things were implemented?
Private servers won’t go away completely, but they’re starting to move in the direction that will actually hurt them rather than useless legal battles that take years sometimes. Take away the customers and the private servers won’t have a reason to keep going.
That’s rather ignorant. A lot of the people playing on the classic private servers also play on the live servers. You do realize it’s possible to have more than one game on your computer, right?
Make the Goblins pay for it!
