There’s been lots of speculation that BfA is going to be the end of the communication/grouping/guild barriers between the factions as the war is put to rest for good. After the events of 8.2.5, where do you think we stand on that? More likely? Less likely?

Probably more likely than ever. For a short answer.
If I had to take a stab in the dark I’d guess we’re in for a “fracturing” of the Factions.
In that there will be a hardcore “Alliance” faction, a hardcord “Horde” faction, and something of a middle ground for both that allows grouping and such.

They’re going to release a new kind of player dungeon called cooperative mode or something where you can queue with other players of the other faction, but it will only be around for one expansion.

Uneasy truce, Tyrande crazy, Sylvanas killed in a single-player scenario, Talanji warchief, mad at Jaina, we do this again two expansions from now.
I think that covers everything.

That’s what I’d wager. It is interesting to note that, for the first time ever, we have no warchief. The throne that has been graced with the butts of Thrall, Garrosh, Vol’jin and Sylvanas now lies empty… for at least a couple of months until 8.3 comes out.
It might just stay that way, with the Horde being a group of friendly nations but with enough autonomy that certain groups wage war without the consent of the others. And Tyrande would obviously fill the same role for the Alliance, since she just openly ignores what the rest of the Alliance would like the night elves to do.
Basically, PvP divisions remain justified while PvE barriers are dropped.

I’m ready. Just dump us all in one pool. Let’s go back to having bias against people for doing specific race class combinations instead of their whole faction choice.
The good days, the better days when every male night elf hunter or male troll hunter that you saw headed in your direction smelled faintly of socks and was holding their gun upside down.

I like my Alliance characters but I prefer the Valley of Honor for walkups over Mage District :[

I want to RP with the Horde because when I walk around Orgrimmar I see dozens of people engaged in gripping political debates but when I walk around stormwind I see like 2 guys who are afk

They’ve been chipping away at cross faction communication for years. And with changes to partying and stuff like party-sync, they’re trying to make it easier for you to party with your friends. We’ve also seen the PvP option that lets you fight for the opposite faction in Battlegrounds.
More cross faction stuff to make it easier to do dungeons and raids has always been a thing coming.
Factions merging though? As in you play a Maghar, do some quests in Elwynn Forest, then go into the Blue Recluse for a drink next to the Night Elf and the Forsaken? I don’t think they’d go that far… yet.

Hopefully it will be a split akin to ESO, where you’re neutral at all times save if you opt into warmode for PVP.
The abrupt appearance of the Horde and Alliance symbols beside our character names seems to support such a potential happening.
At the same time, something as boring as cooperative raids might happen.
Whatever will happen, expect Enekie to scream about it on the forums for five years and three people who have been unsubbed since WoD to comment on it for whatever reason.

Enekie is always the most vocal of us whenever it comes to these things, usually with a very large Alliance bias, and usually a lot of the people who debate on this stuff are unsubscribed.
Looking at the post I can easily see why some might see malice, but if I wanted to start fighting people on a forum, I think I’d just go anonymously shriek elsewhere.
