I’m almost positive we won’t have one single faction story in 9.0. My bet is they keep the alliance and horde specific storylines, but let you roll any race on either faction, for a modest fee of course, this is actiblizz we are dealing with. I’m certainly interested in the roleplaying and community aspect of this. Say i roll my cute Goblin self on the Alliance side -which i really would like to do since I honestly prefer the Alliance side but I can’t just NOT play a Goblin-, how would Alliance players respond to this? Would i be shunned from groups? Would people make “true Alliance only” guilds? Would I have Night Elves demanding reperations for burning their tree (even though i was totally out of town that day).
I’m honestly excited to see how this can go. I saw the little horde and alliance sigils next to my characters in the character select and I’m almost positive we are going to get to roll any race on either faction and just have the horde and alliance being on good terms with one another. Of course we’re still going to have tyrande and sylvanas picking fights, and of course the player anomosity in general. Can’t wait for the RP myself.
RP-wise, many would be fine with it since goblins were always kind of a neutral party until Cata. Others… not so much. Myself, I would most likely not look favorably upon a goblin, due to general disdain for Horde and Horde-like people, but also just generally because they’re planet-wrecking usurous trolls.
Well Glenn and Tyrande won’t take any part in any kind of faction merger. And I HIGHLY doubt the Zandalari would be receptive to it after we straight up murdered our way through their capital and killed their king in his throne room.
I’d say it’s a more he learned to tolerate them, but he’s still extremely prone to emotional outbursts, being Worgen and all. All having Sylvanas just slip away? Ohhh he’s gonna be hot.
Naw, people would loose their minds if they charged money.
If it happens it will be allied races 2.0. long quest line and a rep grind with the achievement to open up cross faction character creation not added until the .1 patch.
He definitely had a hatred towards the forsaken in general. But due to actually having a vice, the writers got on to this recently. Somehow it slipped through their fingers about the requirement that all Alliance leaders be basically perfect.
The whole thing with Calia had helped him not to hate the Forsaken so much.
I foresee the original 8 races being able to faction swap, due to ideological reasons.
Story-wise, it opens up more potential for conflict, shifting alliances, division amomgst the ranks, etc.
Gameplay, it allows certain racials to be used on both factions and people with certain race preferences to play with their friends on the other faction.
For example, Grumbles the cookie gnome really could have a Horde gnome.
Maybe not every race but it does sound likely that a few races will be able to choose Red or Blue. I think it would be cool to see a few of the races on both sides while a few of them I can also say wouldn’t make sense. Going to be interesting to see what happens if we are in fact moving this way. I am sure we will find out soon enough. “Blizz-con 2019 is right around the corner!”
I dunno, I’m not sure about actual rolling races on the other faction. I mean you got this Night Elf standing there while a Forsaken talks about poisoning the Ashenvale trees, and asks if you want to help out? “For the Forsaken!”
I’d be like oh okay I’m actually playing a Night Elf that’s been driven insane by the burning of his tree and old god whispers.
This is what I’m thinking they’re going to go with. They can’t just get rid of the Horde and Alliance entirely (look at all the faction-specific merchandise they wouldn’t be able to sell then…) You make a character and just pick what faction you want them to be on (hence the faction icons on the character select screen), and they still make money on faction changes if you later decide you want to go back but want to keep your character as is.
Allowing any race to start on the opposite faction would completely destroy leveling. All the quests in zones are written to be faction story specific.
I don’t think it would be out of the question to have a faction changing epic quest for your character at max level tho. Deciding you want to cut ties with your faction should be pretty story intensive to your character.
