because Dena is a terrible character, people just like him because compared to the cardboard cut outs he had what could barely pass as a personality. I doubt they actually tried to make a castlevania reference with him.
Dena was the Castlevania reference.
Then “But enough talk, have at you!” would be his battle opening line when you pull him
ugh i can’t wait for Nocturne s2 to come out January

They at least snuck it in with one of the vendor items you could get from Revendreth chests and Venthyr callings.
