I think they’re just setting him up to become the next Warchief of the Horde once the undead call to
him needing a new leader (since Calia is an Alliance lover) and then he’s gonna make the Horde evil
and we’re going to have to team up with Thrall to siege Orgrimmar to stop him
and then something old god related happens

Spoiler alert: He’s actually holding the fish. It’s just phased to the Shadowlands, and only he can see it. In 9.0 he kills everyone and drags us into the Shadowlands to prove the fish is real.
Then, since he’s still mad that nobody believed him, the rest of the expansion is all about him requiring us to catch a bigger fish before he’ll let us out.
