Smoking animation

In a game where there is a holiday that celebrates alcoholism, murder is a daily occurance, and we commit war crimes for fun, I feel like the inclusion of an animation showing someone smoking a pipe wouldn’t be that innapropriate.

There are already plenty of smoking references in the game, races talk about the various herbs they smoke, but it is never depicted in anyway, likely because of some sort of rating reason and blizz would hate to advocate for smoking.

I guess if that justification is used, are they advocates for alcoholism? Murder? Genocide? If someone is allowed to commit horrors in the game, does that mean the staff at blizz tacitly endorse it? But I digress…

I really just want an emote to smoke a pipe in the game. Be it for RP reasons, or simply because I think it would be a chill way to AFK in Valdrakken while I wait for queues; I would just love to be able to type /smoke and have my character bust out a pipe and take a long drag.

Just to preface I am an ex-smoker. Gave it up ten years ago, but prior to that I was a pack+ a day smoker for 12 years. I do not wish this emote be put into the game to foster some sort of illicit smoking campaign, I just think thematically it would be neat.

I had a guild called Felweed Fellowship back in TBC. We were so perplexed that there is a straight up nug of magical weed depicted in game, but smoking pipes were never allowed.

They even have those giant pipes in the Tauren village with a purple haze coming out of them, but all you can do is stand next to them and pretend…alas…

Smoking in games is so weird.

Take Overwatch for example. The only reason it got bumped to T rating wise was because of Cassidy’s cigar. I remember a character in Heroes of the Storm had to not include a cigar they always had just to avoid bumping the rating up.

I drank 50 boozes in a row for an Achieve. And then flew a dragon.

But I cant vape some Peacebloom.

There are a lot of hookahs in this game (especially in Silvermoon), so having a smokable hookah toy wouldn’t be too far-fetched. Blizzard probably wouldn’t want to deal with any headaches that might come from showing characters actually smoking in their “Rated (T) for Teen” game, though.
