Please stop telling people that your smoking or going to smoke during raids. I don’t care nor do I think you’re cool for doing it.
Don’t get me wrong I don’t care if ppl smoke just stop telling people in discord and think you’re “cool” or something. I find it very annoying. Anyone have this problem or is it just me?

We had this gross old guy in guild who had a wireless headset and told us in discord he was going to dump, well sure enough he set his mic to voice activated instead of a keybind and did the nasty and we all heard him. It was gross!!
You have the problem. It must suck being riled so easily.
It is good to know why people AFK, so you have an idea how long it may be. Would you prefer people just randomly AFK without giving a reason?
And anyway, this notion that they feel cool for smoking is also in your head. I no longer smoke cigarettes, but when I did, I had the smooth taste on my mind - not some notions of coolness.
I quit, but I do not begrudge others.

NOT a smoker, but was raised by one. Growing up my mom had to repeatedly go to the garage to smoke a few times a day. Father in law had that same issue before he finally had the gumption to quit, though he admits that he thinks about it regularly.
It’s an addiction that creates a need in their brain. If someone is genuinely taking a smoke break before a raid, it’s not to be a douchey hipster that wants the world to know how cool they are. They are trying to get their bad habit under control so they can properly focus on the fight and not the constant need for a cigarette.
Give them a break.

BUT it seems to the OP that smokers specifically feel the need to “brag” they are going to smoke. Like it’s cool.

I do it differently in my company… Per fed regulations an employee is allowed so many minutes in breaks per day based on the numbers of hours they work… I don’t care if they take two 15 minute breaks during an 8 hour day, or 3 ten minute or 6 five minute… but the total break time they get is 30 for eight hours. If you go over, we’ll have a chat. If you’re reported taking breaks and not logging them we’ll have a chat.
Bob: “Hey guys, I have to step away to do a hideous activity that is unhealthy for all living things. BRB”
Dave: “That Bob . . .he’s so hot right now.”
Little Willy: “I’m going to grow up and do hideous stuff just like Bob!”

Would you rather them tell you, “BRB, the cat’s on fire in the microwave.” Or, “BRB, house is on fire and I’ve gotta go throw water on it.”
What the hell does it matter to you what someone is doing? One reason or another, they’ve gotta step away from the computer to take care of something.
I highly doubt they’re informing someone they’re going to smoke to be “cool.” It’s part of their routine and it doesn’t effect you - unless they live right below (or next to) you while your window is open and it’s billowing into your place.
So no, it doesn’t bother me and is most definitely a you problem.
If it triggers you because you’re trying to quit smoking or the like, then communicate this to them - provided they’re someone you spend a lot of time with. If they’re a pug, then you’re being way too sensitive to the matter.
