Got it on my first Deadmines run yesterday. Got lucky and got Ony head buff right before I logged out. Got on today, immediately go to do DM again and it was so much fun just cleaving everything to a pulp.
Went to the lighthouse to finish up some quests I had over there with an hour on the buff to spare. Just ran down the beach pulling everything while nearly one shotting most stuff, leaving the multiboxers in the area with nothing to do.
And now I’m headed to probably my favorite zone in the game: Ye Olde Duskwoof. Almost able to mine iron already too. Normally I hit a pretty stiff hump in the mid-20’s with it, but I’ve been finding a lot of tin I guess. Things are feeling good!
Yeah I told my brother who’s ran it a lot trying to get it for his friend and never even seeing it drop. He was not amused to say the least. 2nd run VC dropped the crappy 2h axe and Cruel barb. I didn’t win the barb but in hindsight it’s way too slow to be any good for tanking, and I got Thief’s blade off Sneed which I think is much better.
The rate at which mobs dodge vs. parrying or just missing is insane. You get an overpower once every like 4-5 mobs, if that, even with hamstring spam.
Or god forbid, they dodge but then you miss Overpower.
It is somewhat important to note that yellow damage is normalized in 1.12, so it really doesn’t matter for speed. What does matter is the auto attack speed, but before 36 (for WW) or 40 (for MS) it’s not as important. Raw weapon DPS is generally more important until you get to those levels. Faster weapons also mean rage more often, but for less. And those dreaded parries/misses aren’t as bad.
Yup, Smite’s is much better - the staff from the quest reward isn’t half bad either, though obviously the pants last a long time if you snagged the hammer. Smite’s can last until Archeus from Duskwood too.
Missing is unrelated to weapon skills, that’s hit rating. Parry and dodge are weapon skill, as are glancing blows. There’s a base miss chance (which is exacerbated by dual wielding) that you need to get hit for, but you can’t until much higher.
Unless you’re a Rogue. Riposte is stronger than Overpower.
If you are fighting equal or lower mobs parry chance is 5% or less. With a level difference of 3+ parry jumps up to 14%. 5% chance to replace an attack that did nothing or 5% crit. I take crit.
