SMF has been more of my preferred playstyle, I enjoy the faster pace and the more rapid swings while also having a smaller weapon profile (or if I want to comedically dual wield flails). But it seems like SMF is universally agreed upon to be trash.
Regardless has anyone manage to find a build they like for it? It seems like no guides anywhere even have attempts at recommendations.
SMF and TG play the same way and are both GCD locked so you won’t see a difference in animations other then placebo.
Just pick your favorite TG build and move one point to pick up the SMF talent.

Doesn’t smf have faster auto attacks with a more consistent feeling rage generation?
You don’t see the auto attack animations regardless cause they get overwritten by the ability animations, so unless you purposely play wrong you wouldn’t even know, also the rage gain is normalized so you do not get any benefits on the auto attack end.
Ya but I am saying doesn’t smf have faster auto attacks? And with faster auto attacks you get faster rage generation ticks in smaller increments so even if the rage generation is normalized it’s still a different feel.
Unless you just look at your rage bar fill up you won’t see a difference, the APM should be the same but ends up slightly higher for TG due to higher stats/extra talent point.
you’re kind of forced into annihilator due to being on that side of the tree to pick up the 2 SMF talents, and annihilator benefitting from faster autos anyway.
Annihilator rage gain is more beneficial with faster weapons than as TG, as its a flat amount per auto.
Yea I get that, but it’s still different, idk why but I feel like this fact bothers you lol.

Its not different from any measureable gameplay. Thats what he’s trying to convey to you. If you’re playing optimally there is 0 deviation in how your rage is generated from autos.

That may be but there is still a difference. That’s all I’m saying. Is there a problem with that?
You are not, you only need to invest 1 talent point for SMF itself, the following node is not that pertinent.
Annihilator SMF was not the subject, if you want to argue that SFM annihilator generates more rage from auto attacks then your average TG build then yes absolutely; but we were not talking about Annihilator, simply SMF VS TG rage gain.
If we want to lump in other talents and abilities tho, TG still comes out on top with APM.

Then you don’t get it, as I stated earlier its placebo.
Why would it? Why would a placebo you are experiencing bother me?
The only difference is that SMF has less DPS max and a lot lower average DPS.
If you played both, you’d quickly see that there is zero difference in the flow, game play loop, or even action inputs. It’s still GCD locked, rage gen has been normalized for both to be the same, and you don’t even see any difference in visual, (aside from mog being 1 handers).
I mean, if they are using it just for leveling up it’s fine. Even for low to mid tier M+ and Raid it’ll be ok, though you may not get invited often. They’re just not gonna be pushing the highest content is all. Some people are fine with that.
I still think if they made it a mog option, none of this would even be a talking point. They could have their class fantasy, and still be competitive.

So there is a difference but it doesn’t matter because it doesn’t change the playstyle that much. I get that.
But there is still a difference right?
You’re right, I was mistaken.
So some things to note while I was researching:
- Like Tinder said you just drop 1 point from your regular TG build and slot it into SMF for the 5% damage amp.
- Since you’re sacrificing a throughput talent, you’re gaining more like 3-4% damage.
- Even after gaining that damage, smf ends up with 10% less damage than TG.
- The apm and rage intake are basically the same, with the nod towards TG.
- Going the annihilator route is about a 14% damage loss instead of 10%. Your rage income increases by about 9%, but your apm drops by 2-3%.
In other words tinder is a smarty who knows his stuff, but can’t see why kids love the taste of cinnamon toast crunch

Like SMF, that stuff will rot your teeth.
=P
smf rots your muscles. if you don’t work out you don’t get jacked
I’m all for fun but I just got blasé after repeating it a ton of times
i already said you’re smarter than me, you don’t need to rub it in by making me google words

Thank you all for the feedback! I play very casually with my Warrior, LFR is probably the most I will do with some low keys. I appreciate it!
