Every time I exit World of Warcraft there is a small update lasting less than a minute. In addition every time I log into any character I am awarded a series of old titles from other expansions - the same ones each time. I think the two issues must be related. I noticed a post similar from Nov. 2023, but it isclosed. Other players say they have the same problem, and so it appears it is not just a Mac problem. It started right after a maintenance in late Oct.
Update: Too funny. I was told in response to a ticket I submitted to try the technical forums, so I did, and no response. It is almost as frustrating trying to get answers as it is having the problem.

I am having the same problem on my Mac mini. So I’m keeping an eye here to see if we get any fix for the issue, but I am not counting on it. In the mean time, not gonna use battle.net to launch WoW for a bit.
I’m also having the same problem on my new MacBook M4, I have game installed brand new.
I tried launching wow without battle.net, as you mentioned, two times in a row, and it had no effect on the awarding of titles, and then when I logged into battle.net it did the update then, as opposed to when I exit the game.
The chat spam of the awarding of the titles on every alt we log into is an annoying bug that I’ve noticed too. I have not tried to fix that, but for the constant looping the downloading/updating on Battle.net on Macs, I just ignore Battle.net until I can’t anymore. I manually log into WoW the old-fashioned way. I remember there was a time when there was no such thing as Battle.net and I would just launch WoW from WoW’s icon. I figure I would check Battle.net every so often for real updates and patches like today for example, after reset. For the rest of the time, I’m fine not using it. Then I don’t have to see it updating constantly!
For me, launching without Battle.net takes longer than the short update, because I have to put in a password and authenticator, whereas battle.net is set to be automatic. Anyway, thanks for the input. Hope Blizzard figures it out one day. Otherwise it is just a minor annoyance. I have a feeling that is what many people are doing.
Yeah, I got annoyed with constantly putting in my password so I went back to the battle.net app. I’ll just suffer with the constant obsessive updates, you’re right!
I also have this issue. After any more than an hour of playing, the game starts to lock up every 10 seconds for two whole seconds at a time.
leaving the game, I see I have an update. I update. I log in. 10 minutes later. Update.
I got frustrated and started not even logging in, just launch the game, click cancel. Quit. STILL AN UPDATE.
I Uninstalled the game, Battlenet, Curseforge, cleared my hard disk of wow entirely. No change once I re-installed everything. Still freezing and I have an “update” literally EVERY TIME I close the game. Whether I played for an hour, or like I said above, didn’t even actually log in. Update no matter what.
Battle.net updates/patches WoW anytime I exit! There use to be a code you could put in terminal to fix it, but I wasn’t able to find one that worked. I do not have problems playing the game on my Mac mini or my Mac air book . I need and use Apple computers mostly for college, work and I just prefer Macs in general. I have a PC gaming laptop (Asus ROG Strix G17), but when I connect that to a monitor or tv, the coloring is really off compared to the Macs and it was bugging me. I also missed WoW on the Mac after switching so I decided to put up with the constant patching as long as WoW is playable. I just wish there was a fix! I keep checking if anyone has any. Or if Blizzard decides to help us Mac users.
The awarding of titles I find more irritating than the updates, but neither problem adversely affects the game play, which might be why it hasn’t been fixed - too many more serious problems apparently.
