I have been enjoying SOD like no ones business but there’s been a small undertone of strange changes that aren’t in the spirit of the game or good for the players that I have been noticing. Players want to farm gold for many reasons and most of them being mounts, boe’s and other gold sinks. There’s been many bots that have made their way into SOD to farm gold and sell it and this presents a real issue in modern gaming. The cost of time/$ for in game currency, most players value their time but when you can relate that time to value for the in game current most players have their immersion removed and are more likely to be deterred from farming out said gold in game and resort to the actual gold buying service. This is why it is vital to have harsh consequences for people that participate in gold buying and even harsher consequences for accounts that are gold selling/botting. This gets to the root of this post, I have done multiple 1-60 journeys as a rogue and have always enjoyed 30-40 farming sm gy for rares and chest spawns. It is a reliable source of gold, xp, decent rare gear from rares, and lockpicking skill. Within the past years I have had four rogues that I have done this level range farming this dungeon and there’s ALWAYS been 2 guaranteed chest spawns. Blizzard is SOOOO lazy… they are afraid to actually address the problem, BOTS farming gold. But instead they decide to remove things in game that actual players want to do for fun. Same thing happened in BFD with clams/chests.
STOP BEING LAZY AND ACTUIALLY ADDRESS THE ISSUE, BOTS.
Removing legitimate ways for players to farm gold leads them to either quit or buy gold. A lot of the choices made in SOD seem to be “in spirit of classic” please tell me how removing things due to the fear of addressing an issue that is actually KILLING the game is in the best spirit of classic?
Lets not pretend that blizzard isnt able to ban these bot accounts when less capable companies and orgs have displayed how simple it is. By removing actual ways to farm gold for players they have created a situation where gold is harder to get for “real” players and gold will still be acquired for bots. In this scenario the cost of gold will go up on these websites thus the actual problem being ignored and those companies profits going up and the problem continuing to compound. I was convinced wow was going to become better with SOD…
