I should probably start with saying compared to the old WC/early WoW voice it’s terrible. i mean voice acting wise it’s fine I guess but it really doesn’t fit the character like the old one. it used to sound haunting, tormented yet angry and vengeful at same time. now it just sounds like a arrogant female Ray Romano trying to do an edgy spooky voice.

I mean as for as voice acting is concerned yeah, but I do agree it sounds silly coming out of her most the time. Wrong voice for this character it would have been better to give it to a gnome or goblin and play it for laughs.

Sylvanas was intended to serve as a “Starscream” type character. A perpetual loser who whines about their lot. She was never meant to win. This is why you see a shift. The character was meant to go down like a chump back in WOTLK but somehow survived due to Blizzard’s fear of making substantial leadership changes of faction races at the time. Now, instead of being a rage-filled whiner, the writers decided to make her a cocky genius and it doesn’t fit her character design at all.
One of the things I really look forward to with Shadowlands is the chance that Blizzard might actually take that character behind the shed and shooting her in the back of the head; she’s clearly overstayed her welcome. If she gets redeemed I’m officially done with these writers.

Meanwhile the sylvanas voice actor got amazing reviews and applauds at blizzcon and gave me chills when she said Ions Horde is nothing (and I agree)

Patty Mattson is an outstanding voice actress, and she does a great job with Sylvanas. I will agree that I felt Piera Coppola was a much better fit for the character. I remember when the voice changed, I was pretty upset about it.
FYI, the original voice talent for WC3 and the beginning of WoW had one-time contracts to voice just those games. It wasn’t until WotLK that new lines were being added for some of these characters. Both the original voice actors for Sylvanas and Arthas were offered new contracts for the new lines, but it was for less pay than the original contract (since it was going to be less content initially) so they turned it down.
EDIT: I want to agree with some of the statements above… I -hate- Tyrande’s voice. I don’t know what that ridiculous accent is that she insists on doing.

The one thing I love about Sylvanas is the work her voice actress does. Patty Mattson does an incredible job.
She also has twitter pictures of cats. I love cats. So… if you don’t like Sylvanas’ voice then you have no taste.
