I played classic for a while and I just got back to retail to catch up the Dragonflight story quests. I notice something, the NPCs talk veeeeerrryyyyyyyy sloooooooowlyyyyy. Anyone knows why? I honestly hate this, it feels like bad voice acting…
Probably because your zoomer brain needs constant stimulation after rotting away from social media (especially TikTok) so much that regular speech is considered boring and “slow”. The first step to solve your problem is to log off from the internet for the next week and interact with real human beings rather than digital ones.
Well it’s just my opinion. I played a few voiced RPG in the last few months and it just struck me that the voice over was slow in WoW. I’ve played WoW from day 1 back in 2004, so the pace of the story is not a problem. Just feels like the characters are talking slowly.
Maybe it’s an immersion kind of thing. Idk. WoW is pretty much the only game I play aside from some small, match up type of games here and there so I can’t compare it to others.
Not only is this unnecessarily hostile, but completely baseless. I’m 43, not a zoomer, the only social media I follow is Facebook and I have a very active social life, so much so that I have a hard time finding a raiding guild that matches my schedule. This community doesn’t need comments like this, it’s already as toxic as it can get…
I thought about this, about how Harbinger quest went, compared it to the TWW cine with Thrall and Anduin, compared it to the comic book-esque style of the BfA intro where Sylvanas bombs the tree.
It’s like 3 different styles of acting. The cines (my fav) are acted out by people and have animation layered over them. Thrall and Anduin are being portrayed by physical actors with cgi so it flows smoothly.
Then the middle type (more common) of cine they do, like in Harbinger where Alleria and Khadgar talk, is mainly voice actors and they have to time their lines with the emotes of the npcs so it can come off as slow and just a bit choppy.
The comic book-esque type of cine, while good work, is my least fav because it’s bascially someone showing you a comic book with narration. It’s not bad, gets the story across and it’s probably the least expensive.
So you’re right. Ingame, the middle type of acting/cinematic tends to be slower because of the emotes having to match the voice actor.
At least that’s what I think.
Idk much about any of this stuff. Just what I’ve observed.
