Well the notifications bar is all bungled up. People having ‘new’ notifications for stuff from yonks ago, then going to reply thinking its new or still current and making necros left, right & centre.
Which is weird because that didn’t happen to everyone. Or at least it didn’t happen to me.
When I logged in I thought I had 50 flags and went “uh oh, not again.” But it was the new Like-system notification.
I’m kinda cheesed off by it to be honest.
I’m generally against necroing threads unless there’s a good reason, like to continue the topic that’s still relevant – or if it’s a bug / problem that’s still persisting & needs to be fixed.
If it’s merely a reply and a generic one, or a reply that’s pretty obviously ignorant – If I see it’s from months ago, I’m not really gonna care to reply and necromance that thread.
EDIT: There’s another ‘new’ notification I have, for a liked comment of mine that was made way back in April & has been inactive for a long while.
Almost happened to me, composed a reply to a post but, instead of blindly hitting reply, I made a uncommon move and actually read what the pop-up was telling me:
“Are you sure you want to post in a 3 year old thread?”
Why even show it to me if its an issue with me replying to it?
Yeah it’s so weird, they need to revert back lol
I don’t like it either. My notifications take up more space than they used to. I suppose it has the advantage that I could choose to only see replies, or only see likes, etc. but I had that before if I just clicked the arrow at the bottom of the notification panel. One less click isn’t worth a more cluttered display.
Makes me feel thankful that my accidental necro from ‘new’ notification was only 10 months. lol
I just went to Notifications and clicked Dismiss All and it seems to be working normally now.
What I have been having all day long…posts from months back showing up on my notification area
I’ve always wondered about these things.
Each update the forums get serves some kind of purpose, they don’t just randomly haphazardly start doing things without reason. I dunno maybe notifications were a bit wonky so they tried to tidy it up a lil bit for efficiency?
When I saw it i got really confused at first and couldn’t find anything but i think you just get used to it after a while.
Did we used to be able to see other people’s like history like we can now?
I believe the answer is yes but I somehow never noticed this.
i dont like it eitehr cause i keep getting notifications for old posts with no interactions.
had a new notification from 2018, 10/10
