Slice and dice really not getting the rune of power treatment? REALLY?

The top rogue post of all time is literally wanting SnD removed. Literally no one likes wasting a global/cp/energy on this trash maintenance ability. In what world does this stay? Also, not sure how rupture in sub is staying either because it is in the exact same boat.

Highly agree. Slice and dice needs to be completely removed in it’s current form and baked back into the class like it was pre-shadowlands. It is not needed, it is not wanted, and it desperately needs to go

I mentioned this on Disc, but I think the problems of Slice and Dice are mostly just problems of optics and feel. Having a button translate into damage every ~30 seconds is obviously fine, and that is what SnD does, but the results need to be clearer. Pressing a button and watching your white damage scoot up a few percent just isn’t that engaging.

How about something like this instead? Remove the poison application chance from Envenom and just let Envenom synergize with Spatter and Amp Poison if a player goes that route. Take the poison application chance and create two abilities from it, one that stacks to like 3-5 or whatever to help your lethal application/damage; another that stacks to like 3-5 to help your non-lethal application/damage. You can only have one rolling at a time. Literally pick your poison.

Just better, IMO

We need to keep trying.

Blow this post up too.

S&D is fine. You’ll get used to using it one day.

^ Assassination rogue who doesn’t need to spam slice and dice thinks it’s fine. Kek.

I like it as well

Slice and Dice is TEDIOUS. There are plenty of active engaging rogue functions to use without having to worry about a stupid upkeep button. I hate it.

Rupture is useful against stealthers.

It’s actually not even that tedious.

you are playing a game that only requires you to press buttons. If pressing your SND bind feels somehow worse than pressing your other keybinds, then maybe the problem is your keybind

Just take slice off the GCD. I already spend CPs and energy on it. I don’t mind maintaining it as it’s not hard for me to do, however I would rather it not interrupt the flow of the rotation with a dead GCD. Especially for outlaw, we already have to spend GCDs on RtB and blade flurry (even in single target now - thanks Grand Melee).

There isn’t any real justification for it to be on GCD anyway tbh…

There was some comment made on the discord to the effect of SnD being part of the “ceremony” when starting up combat as a rogue, with a comparison drawn between it and applying OOC poisons, something about wanting to promote immersion and also wanting there to be some amount of ramp before big burst windows begin.

Ultimately, the issues stem from SnD not being thematically or - let’s say, haptically (ie. with regard to gameplay feel) interesting enough to feel great pressing, but also not not being enough of a contribution damage to skip altogether. It contributes minimally to white damage – fine, but also ridiculously and unarguably boring. It used to be better +attack speed. It used to include energy regen. Now it’s just a small bit of Whatever. There are abilities that are far more enjoyable as presses, keybinds notwithstanding.

When it comes down to it, I’m personally able to work around it and am capable of enjoying the rest of our kit regardless, but anyone suggesting that the ability has any value beyond keeping FOTM chasers from insta-swapping to Rogue is being a lil’ silly.

That’s not a fair assessment at all. The feedback of the spell is immensely important in a game like this. Certain abilities feel much better to press than others either through the visual aspect or the impact to game play. SnD doesn’t really do well in either regard.

Slice and dice should just be the rogue finisher from Diablo that does like 8 rapid AoE stabs and gives us big numbers for the dopamine

Maintenance spenders aren’t fun and don’t feel impactful, and are especially annoying when you’re getting punished for not using them

Seems that Realz the rogue developer doesnt want to have us give up SnD.

SND like Shiv and stealth is now considered part of the Rogue core kit so it isn’t going anywhere.

That is why I suggest people ask for improvements or QoL adjustments to SND to bring up to speed for the modern WoW.

Sadly, that this topic is discussed by the dev behind the scenes instead in the official way through the feedback forums. I would really like to hear his reasons for why he is holding SnD that much. Of all the interesting spells in the entire game, SnD is probably the least appealing.
