Slice and Dice appears to be back

However it no longer gives increased energy regeneration.

This in my opinion is a massive fail because the pace of gameplay is way too slow and energetic recovery really improved the pace when it was available.

Also there is nothing about Premeditation returning, so no possibility of pressing Premed --> Slice and Dice from Stealth before opening, which was one of the most satisfying things about using SnD as a Subtlety Rogue.

I assume you mean SnD baseline for every spec? Because that’s the way it looked in the datamining notes.

If this is the case, still happy about it even tho its more or less half the ability it used to be, its an extra button on my bar that im happy about

Cheapshot only generating 1 CP is a bit questionable tho

Yeah I interpreted it the same way. Baseline for all specs. I’m happy too for the Rogue flavor it’s bringing back (I even miss the animation and sound, just the feeling of casting it) and resource management because they took away so many finishers and made our gameplay really one dimensional in doing so. But yea the lack of Energetic Recovery is a concern because the pace of energy regeneration has been so awful since that was removed.

(Yes, I know, some of you out there have huge PvE item levels and big haste numbers, congratulations, but the pace of energy regeneration has felt really terrible for us PvP peasants for a long time)

Horrible change. When I said I wanted to reduce the Cheap Shot spam, this is not what I had in mind. It feels that the design team only considers raid encounters and doesn’t have any first hand knowledge or experience of the rotational math of PvP openers. If they did they would also bring back Premeditation to go with Slice and Dice. These are painfully obvious things to anyone who plays Rogue PvP, so of course Blizzards design team is continuing to give us evidence that they are painfully oblivious.

They have not considered PvP when it comes to things like this in a long time

Just gotta take the scraps (Slice & Dice) when we get them I guess.
(Thats if the dataming is correct and SnD is baseline all specs)

they hardly care about pvp any more. 8.3 didnt get any balance changes at all, and they dont even mention pvp much other than telling us we couldnt find the vendors

as for pve, they are throwing crap at the wall with this spec to see if anything sticks

SND is baseline for Outlaw, roll the bones will be some kind of dps cooldown that does not use combo points.

The datamining from yesterday showed SnD being baseline to all specs + the Spells tab im looking at from the Shadowland Talent Calculator shows SnD being there for sub

Huh, just checked, yeah its on every spec now. But not on the generic rogue tab, just on the spell list.

I wonder how/if energetic recovery will interact with assassins energy mechanic when their bleeds damage a poisoned target? Are they just going to energy cap now at high ilvls?

Well I looked closer into the spells on the talent calc & got a rogue to look on the Alpha on a stream, it appears Energetic Recovery is there for Sub but not Outlaw/Assa.

Sadly not the case in the game, Just like live Energetic Recovery is listed in the files on live but not actually the case in the game. Sinister strike is only a thing for sub at low lvl just like now.

Sadly snd is actually there for all specs and is 50%. Rip active dmg going from no snd to 50% is just…

And then add to that sub/outlaw are getting dmging poisons I hope everyone enjoys auto attacking things to death.

Total non-issue. I am more than willing to shift some damage around to get a classic Rogue button and some sorely needed resource/timer management back in the rotation.

Can’t wait to get back the satisfying animation and sound of SnD.

But it needs to have Energetic Recovery as well, the spec has been far too slow paced in PvP for a long time.

50% snd means less active dmg Energetic Recovery would buff active dmg probably not happening with that much added passive dmg as they will only let the specs do so much dmg so it can only come from so many things.

That’s not how tuning works at all.

The overall amount of damage, and the distribution of damage into different sources, can be tuned completely independently of one another.

Do you still see SnD having value to use in arena w/o energetic recovery?
Personally I do just unfortunately not as much now

With a 50% snd it’s pointing to the tuning going to passive dmg. Could they turn down the passive sure but they just turned the passive dmg up so they looks like the direction they are wanting to go.
