Interesting since i have 2 of the 3 and only got them from the Bosses, and they spawn on floors 6, 12 and 18. Sounds like either you failed it after getting 1 and kept retrying and it gives you a different piece each time you kill the level 6 boss, or you completed it, went back in to screenshot to try and make yourself “right”

No you do not get any kind of lockout, you either invest the 2-4 hours to complete the 18 floors or you are out of luck.

no, it doesn’t matter what kill order you get for the quest, it just needs to be the boss, try it out yourself

you can do twisting corridors 3 times and get what you want without ranting about a floor 18 boss

I don’t want to underplay how poorly tuned some of this is because floors 13-18 can definitely be bs for some classes and specs but I think you should be able to clear a few layers as a 200 Vengeance. I’ve cleared through Layer 5 and really only found it to be a huge pain as Vengeance in 4 and 5. While I do have high ilvl, it’s not that much and would only account for another 100 or so agility and maybe 200 stam. That’s not much when you consider the ridiculous bonuses you get in Torghast.

I’d recommend picking the following powers when possible:

  • Immolation Aura powers: Refreshes duration, every % damage bonus, talents for increased armor
  • Everything Elysian Decree related if you are Kyrian (extra damage, healing, sigil cooldown) - Also spec into reduced sigil cooldowns and use the sigil legendary
  • As many stacks as you can of the worm power that gives you a very high chance to heal for 5 x Y % of your health
  • Imprison allows you to control the mob as a pet (this is so powerful especially past floor 12, if you can control a Mawsworn guard it will hit the miniboss on each floor for 20-30% of their max hp
  • Whatever you can find HP-wise
  • Throw Glaive damages a mob down to 70% of their hp - only use these glaives on floors 6/12/18 or 16/17/18
  • 30% damage potion
  • Fiery Brand reduction

Immolation Aura will be 40-50% of your damage in Torghast as a Vengeance DH. You can get Elysian down to a 19s cooldown before your legendary.
You just let Immolation aura tick everything down while you cleave to cast Elysian

You should be able to start the boss at 70% hp with the glaive, pop your potion, and then just spam cleave while maintaining spirit bomb to pop Decrees every 10 seconds or so. Each decree will do ~5% of the boss’ hp while Immo just ticks it down. You should be able to kill any boss within 3 minutes before their damage scales up too high to be a problem.

The only wildcards are the slime boss (you just lose, nothing you can do about it this boss needs to be removed from Twisted Corridors) or the Giant Crusher boss. The Crusher boss will 1-shot you eventually. You have to rotate defensives after about a minute. Always have either Brand on the boss, one of your metas up, or demon spikes. This should keep you from instantly dying.

I think Vengeance, DKs, and some rogue specs probably have the best odds of clearing Layer 8 as things stand right now. Each can have a huge amount of passive and burst damage with near invulnerability.

2-4 hours? it takes like 1 hour to do the entire first layer lol

For a hybrid class like a monk that get the really nice touch of death anima and can easily heal themselves and have mobility increases, probably an hour. For tanks or a lot of other classes, especially those that do not skip a lot than 2-4 is not out of the norm. Also you have a higher ilvl than a lot at this point, and while this is a challenge mode, a lot of people wanted to be able to participate and expected it to scale better. I figure layer 4 or 5 definitely would be out of ilvl 200 range for completion solo, but layer 1 especially the last boss is poorly tuned. (for dungeons and raids blizzard actually puts a suggested ilvl out there, they didnt do that for toghast which is a big reason why people are frustrated since the early floors, first 12 anyway are quite easy and then it just jumps up and if there had at least been a suggested (suggested doesnt mean impossible for lower but at least gives some idea what to expect) i think the frustration would have been less.

wait there’s two of these threads ?!?

I guess Blizz didn’t like all the negative feedback in this one lol.

This needs more player rewards honestly.

Kinda rich the guy who spent all day defending this content had to run it three times to complete the quest because he couldn’t make it all the way through.

You need multiples of the one that reduces Crimson Vial’s cooldown (to zero if possible) and the one that gives you a defensive buff every time you use CV. Then you spam CV 3-5 times after every finisher to become immortal.

But I did

And soon I’ll be getting more layers down

So, did layer 1 for the quest… took like two hours since I got terrible powers, and you can’t break it up, so even assuming it’s possible to do the other 7 layers you’re talking about 7 (or more if you fail) multi hour sessions and all for what? A pet, a toy, a title, and a mount… not even some cool transmog? I get that some of torghast is supposed to be open ended so you can add more later, but this is a little too empty for my taste, why not put more effort into balance and stuff we’re doing now, and give whatever team was on this more time to flesh it out and release it later?

I had an incredibly defeating experience trying to do my 18 layers. I clocked in 2 hours of non-stop killing to spend my last death at the final boss. I was really sweating in floors 16-18 to not get one shot by regular melees on the normal non-elite monsters.

I thought I had great anima powers, but some high scaling occurred and mobs started having HP in the range of 300k+. The final boss had 1.1M HP and I was trying to widdle him down, but literally 1 fear and an auto hit killed me.

I think there needs to be another look at those later levels.

If anyone wants to see how insane the last boss on Torghast is, and how much it takes to beat it, here’s my Layer 2 run:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkEXOb1ZZFM

Warlock powers are insanely overpowered. I was doing around 300k dps.

I had +1500% Health/Damage on my Felguard, every demonic tyrant cast summoned 4 demonic tyrants, all of which empowered itself with existing demons, including each other, then the “your covenant power summons a demonic tyrant” which summons another 4, which leads to 8 demonic tyrants out super juiced as they also have the +100% duration to tyrant and chance to steal a soul from you to do +100% damage. I also had +100% to demon damage. Then I had as you can see, over 70 imps by the end. I even forgot to summon my second Felguard and use my Darkmoon Trinket, both of which would’ve boosted my dps a decent chunk.

She’s ilvl185 before you ask.

It seriously could use a tuning pass for classes that don’t have overpowered anima powers like Rogue, Hunter, and Mage.

Honestly, with everything going on, I’m shocked my computer didn’t crash.

As per my older post in here about struggling on hunter - Warlocks have MASSIVE health boosts for pets available. As I said, I was at I think +1500% health. My Felguard had 800 or 900k health. SO even being meleed for 30k, it was not going to die.

Meanwhile there’s no health boosting powers for hunter pets, meaning they would get one shot, and 3 shot with 90% damage reduction.

Hunters need more powers to boost our pets health and damage. It’s completely unbalanced that we’re balanced around having a pet, but we have no way to beef up the pet for Torghast.

I stand corrected. You have to kill 3 bosses for clues about the boy king. And then never again. So yeah, tough it up. You think I’m happy I’m there for him?

Thank you so much for posting this, I thought I had to kill the boss on floor 18 to get that 3rd clue. Went back in this morning and got the 3rd clue on the floor 6 boss!

Clearly you need to just grab all the max health anima buffs, but those anima buffs are RNG. It’s a dumb way to set up content. Spend hours on a run just to get unlucky with anima buffs.

My first run, I kept getting buffs on Maw rat explosions as my only choice. What the hell am I supposed to do with that? Its a total waste of a power. So now I have to spend another 3+ hours straight in Snoreghast to hope that the RNGer is better for me.

Sure…after you fix all the GD bugs. You know the ones…they were reported in BETA. WHy do you even have beta if you dont listen?
