Shadowlands Reputations suck. Here’s why.
I’m talking about these mainly.
- Ve’nari (Soulbound Gloomcharger)
- Death’s Advance (Fierce Razorwing / Beryl Shardhide)
- The Enlightened (Russet Bufonid)
- Maldraxxus Necrorays x3
What’s wrong with them?
Shadowlands reputations, especially from later patches, are notorious for giving just crumbs of reputation outside of the weekly activities. From 10-40 reputation per rare kill at most, to having no reputation gained from ZM dailies at all, and barely any WQ’s to do on a non-weekly basis.
The Wild Hunt and The Undying Army for example are pretty normal rep grinds. There are plenty of WQs to complete, plenty of main and side quests, and callings to complete as well. These aren’t a problem.
The reputations I mentioned do have these issues. Ve’nari, Death’s Advance and the Enlightened all suffer from only giving crumbs of reputation outside of weeklies. Only the Enlightened has WQs, DA has dailies, but that’s all those 2 reps have. Ve’nari also has dailies, but they barely give any rep. Ve’nari rares only give 40 rep, while the Enlightened’s rares only give 10.
The Necrorays are probably the most annoying to farm. If there even is a Maldraxxus Calling up, not only do you have to grab a calling quest from your covenant, then travel all the way to Maldraxxus if you’re not a Necrolord, and fly all the way back to turn it in, the dropchance is horrendous. And there is THREE Necrorays…
How could this be fixed?
There are a few options.
- Buff rep gains from all sources, especially rares.
- Make ZM dailies give Enlightened Rep for an extra source.
- Increase the amount of Ve’nari dailies that spawn per day.
- Make it easier to solo the Antros & Mor’geth World Bosses.
- OR… Increase the drop chance of all Shadowlands Paragon Mounts.
- Increase the drop chance of the Necroray Eggs from Maldraxxus Callings.
These changes would already make these reputations so much more bearable to farm. The paragon mounts don’t really need a buff to their dropchance if the reputation wasn’t so hard to come by, but it could be considered the easiest solution, and this solution was done before for Legion Paragon mounts, which are significantly easier to farm. (WQ’s, quests, rep tokens, timewalking…)
They would be easy fixes to make any new or returning mount farmer VERY HAPPY.
Honorable mentions:
- I don’t think anyone would dislike it if the rep items for the Archivist’s Codex immediately turned into rep and didn’t clutter your bags until you went back to the rep NPC.
- Protoform Synthesis also could use some QoL adjustments. A drop chance buff for Tools of Incomprehensible Experimentation, Bronze Ingots, and increasing the loot gained from opening an Olea Cache could all help with this. And maybe guarantee the key drop for the Mawsworn Bridle treasure in Sepulcher so you can actually get that every raid, and not have to form one specifically for it.
- How about we just add portals to the SL zones in Oribos? To avoid the annoying thing of having to fly through Oribos to go to any other zone? It’s unnecessarily slow and I already hated that since 9.0. Just add portals, please. And make the Oribos portal in covenants just be there always.
