Because “sky” is more bland than “wind”? I was fine calling the two different flight styles dynamic and static, and probably will continue to do so.

This is the first I heard of it. Not everyone pays attention to all that stuff on Twitter or WoW head. I get most of my info from the Forums - like I did just now with your topic.
I agree it is a silly renaming. “Sky riding” just sounds goofy. I understand they had to change it from Dragonriding… I thought they settled on dynamic flight?
Dynamic flight maybe didn’t have that lore-based punch, perhaps it was too “meta” and they wanted something more immersive.
I don’t like “sky riding” though. Isn’t that what every flight mode is? At least dynamic flight was an accurate comparison to regular flight. I was just getting used to the transition to saying “dynamic flying”.
Wind Riding does make more sense, and has a lore connotation.
It’s about flavor.
why would i change wind riders? The whole point is to ground it in lore and add some flavor, changing wind riders into something else would make renaming skyriding to wind riding pointless.

Because wind riders have nothing to do with “windriding”.
But then dismounting can be called Skylanding, which will of course allow for a Skylanders revival within WoW. Who doesn’t want to mount Spyro?

I provided links to several lore entries that proves you wrong, tldr, wind rider is a title for people who perform aerial maneuvers with flying mounts, usually in combat. It is faction inclusive, with dwarven wind riders. You may be thinking of the mob, the windrider. Just because they share a name doesn’t mean the term is exclusive to them.
Man people care about weird stuff, just call it whatever you want, lol.
We’ve been calling it “uppies” since beta and we haven’t gotten a cease and desist or anything, it’s crazy!
