Skyriding auto levels while coasting

My mount keeps auto leveling from a slight downward angle upward while skyriding. This keeps killing my acceleration and causing me grief during travel and races. It did not do this before prepatch. It is a very quick and abrupt auto pull upward, especially more noticeable on the non-dragonflight mounts. I absolutely HATE it, and it kills dynammic flying for me. I wish they’d change it back

Yes! This was happening to me recently both doing a skyriding race and while flying around in one of the prepatch event zones and at first, I thought I was making it up in my head. But then I let it coast for a bit and it was flying at a perfectly straight horizontal line. I tried scouring the options to see if this was an accessibility feature that was added and I had turned on accidentally, but nothing I saw would indicate it as a feature.

It’s odd, because it’s not consistent that it does this for me, at least not in a way that I notice. But it is definitely especially annoying when doing races because you lose crucial maneuverability when it locks you in.

Same thing has been happening while swimming. You reach a certain level, then it automatically locks you parallel with the water’s surface.
Very annoying, moreso with flying because it means you have to angle yourself even lower to keep up vigor generation and speed, meaning a quicker descent, meaning less time to tab out and do things while you’re soaring to your destination.

I’ve noticed it being inconsistent too, but at least I can tell when it happens because the camera’s position suddenly feels off from what I’d expect it to be. It’s almost like trying to fly while drunk, fighting the controls to get the game to do what I want it to do.

Othankgawd it’s not just me! It’s driving me crazy and inconsistent, making it even more annoying!

This is no “mistake” - it’s the result of a dev who believes flight should be removed from WoW. Dragonriding was a huge success in DF - I can’t think of any reason to repeatedly make it worse than the bruised ego of a dev.

It’s called a bug.

I got this on the beta, but only for a few minutes. I tried a few things and couldn’t replicate it.

This seems random whether it happens or not but it has been happening to me recently.

Happens with static flight as well, there will be an angle where you are locked horizontally until you look up or down enough to break it.

I’m wondering if it’s a miscalculation for the ground or something. Cause if you start to fly very close to the ground or water but not straight at it, it’ll level out so you don’t make contact.

I was wondering what that was.

Just noticed this as well - thanks for pointing it out.

This leveling off is actually quite terrible.

I’ve desperately been looking for someone to post some hidden option console command to get rid of this stupid “feature”, but haven’t found anything yet. Much sad.

This is actually awful. At least it’s not happening every single time but I have no idea what triggers it.

this is absolutely horrible

ive run into this too, it seems to be related to mounting up or taking off from water. whenever i cast my mount in or take off while in water i get this bug for the duration of the time im mounted, but if i dismount and take off from land it seemingly goes away. very weird and exceptionally annoying

Yep. I predicted this in DF beta. Allowing us super high speed flying as a perk at expac launch only to slowly nerf it in a bunch of little ways that add up to less speed and maneuverability. I figured it was only a matter of time

little pro tip. if you can level while coasting, you’re doing it better than right.

I just experienced it when going down into the Caverns of Time, so incredibly annoying. I blame Ion for his hatred of TBC flight.
