Why is the option to disable FOV-effects during skyriding, a major motion sickness and migraine trigger, not toggleable via the options menu? The only way to disable the effect is by entering a console command ( /console AdvFlyingDynamicFOVEnabled 0).
I don’t understand why such an important accessibility option isn’t part of the normal accessibility options menu.
Only in DR mounts from DF expansion?
What happened to evergreen content?
Hmmm???
Surely static flying is the better option, that does exist in the options, for people with sensitive motion sickness?
It’s like having the option to travel by boat or by plane, you choose boat, then complain that you get sea sick.
That is a nice work around though if it works with any other mount!
Thank you for sharing!
??
You read my post?
The Skyriding options are in the Options menu under Accessibility > Mounts:
I think the specific ones that you want are under “Motion Sickness”?
As I mentioned in my post, they are not.
Those are different options. I was talking about the FOV-effects.
That’s not “Skyriding Screen Effects”?
No, but you are close.
I had to do some digging to figure out what feature OP was referring to and in the settings it is the one listed as “Skyriding Speed Effects.” The screen-one removes the lines and special effects on the screen, but the setting the OP is referring to handles the camera shifts during speed changes.
They are there. The setting you are looking for is the “Skyriding Speed Effects.”
Edit: I am wrong about this, see Leocadia’s response instead.
I can’t check in-game right now due to maintenance in EU, but I don’t think that’s the one. I already had all the effects I could disable in the menu disabled, but the camera-shift FOV-change wasn’t affected by any of those.
If the option you’re looking for is to turn off the “zoom in out quickly effect” when using abilities such as “Surge Forward” is Options > Accessibility-General > Motion Sickness (~6th option down). This will prevent the zoom/FOV effect. I just tested this before I posted. Hopefully it resolves your issue.
Also, Skyriding Speed Effects is the one that puts a blue aura around your mount when you’re under the effect of “Thrill of the Skies” to regenerate vigor. So if you want the blue aura, make sure it’s checked.
I literally went ahead and tested both the console command you linked, found its documentation stating what it does, and then compared it to the settings available in-game.
It IS the option of “Skyriding Speed Effects.”
Edit: Nope, I was wrong. This is just the blue effect. When I tested it in another zone I could see the difference and then tested what Leocadia pointed out and yeah, that’s the option if one want to change how much the FOV is affected.
The weird thing is though that when I turned off the Speed Effects-toggle, it completely disabled the FOV changes when I tried it in the Searing Gorge (but this may have been because of changes using the console command as well, point is: I was wrong, Leocadia is right.)
Correct me if I’m wrong, but this turns off all the special camera-features, including stuff like action cam, right? There is an option only for the FOV during dynamic flight however which doesn’t seem to be accessible through the menu though.
EDIT: Could you tell me what the 6th option is called? I can’t log in for the next 8 hours because of EU maintenance.
