Skyborne Consensus

I’d like to make an organized thread discussing the Skyborne and make a cohesive consensus. I want to get an honest consensus from people without the thread being bloated with bickering.

Use the following numbers with your responses: (This helps more quickly quantify consensus)

1 - Approve

2- Disapprove

3- Neutral

Please give your honest opinion in detail.

2 - IMO… Skyborne are completely out of touch and go against the intended goal of preserving the classic atmosphere. The lore doesn’t make sense, it looks awkward having 2 identical race icons in the character creator, it breaks immersion and seems to detract from the atmosphere instead of adding to it. Having Goblins, Blood Elves and Draenei would have been more appropriate… even if some are neutral races.

It would have been much better UI to have the icon for neutral races rest on the center bottom, instead of 2 identical icons as awkward bloat on the screen. In conclusion it just seemed like they really dropped the ball on this one. Of all the risks they could take, im surprised they took this one.

I honestly would have taken them more seriously if there plot was that they were from ~25 years in the future (Midnight era) visiting the classic world, that’s just how out of place they feel.

Like most would have gone the Horde Blood Elf/Alliance High Elf route if we wanted more elves.

None of your comments matter because they will 100% guaranteed be the most played race in the entirety of WoW Forever, I would bet money on it

3 just give them sd versions of tbc bloodelves painted blue and ill be fine, its immersion breaking for my charcater to be sd and them to be hd how did u not think to just paint tbc blood elves for even use the ones from classic ?

I just don’t like elves, but it doesn’t really matter either way. It’s a new addition, new lore, no big deal.

Neutral faction tho? Not a fan of that choice. I did like the ability to identify a faction by someone’s character choice and not a nameplate. Might make some WPVP situations kinda awkward at first, but again probably no big deal.

People love the elves, and will always play them. They had to add them in some way

Its just a character model skin. it’s not like it has a unique class or something. We already have pink and purple elves may as well have blue ones.

I also strongly dislike them being a neutral race. You’re giving the identical aesthetic to both sides, which I believe makes it a little less unique. Factions are all very unique in classic, from style to the silhouettes. If they had to do Elves I would’ve rather just done the split on BE/HE.

Neutral, main hang up is the lore surrounding them. Their existence at least means the Horde won’t die immediately on servers not boosted by streamers.

I just can’t believe the perfect opportunity to finally give us High Elf wasn’t taken AGAIN, they’d rather invent a whole new thing than do that.

I think they are a very strange thing to force onto us out of the blue so to speak, but what we think doesn’t matter. They have sold them for money. The game is blue-sky-elves-craft and that’s the only game they will ever give us now. So the only thing we can do is shake our heads at it.

2 - I cannot stress how out of character they feel for classic. It is blowing my mind that I’m playing WC3 again to see a Forsaken campaign, with a warcraft returning to just post WC3, and instead of a faithful adaptation of one of a dozen potential races we are getting another retail-style allied-race blood elf knock off instead of just High Elves and Blood Elves.

It, along with a painfully disney peacecraft cinematic, is seriously detracting from my faith in the project.

I don’t think the people who understand the appropriate tone for Classic, and wow in general really, are in charge.

You are not going to get a reliable answer on the forums.

This has been for years a place that people come to only to complain. People that enjoy the new race or don’t care are not going to be here posting as much.

But for me, I don’t care. I’m not going to play them or pay for them. But it isn’t going to take away from my enjoyment of the game.

The Druid forms are trash and do not fit in classic.

Whether SD or HD we will not be able to turn off their aesthetic which does not fit at all.

  1. I feel like they could have just put High Elves on the Alliance and Blood Elves on the Horde, or, instead of Blood Elves, Ogres or Goblins.

I bought it to access the beta.
I don’t have any intentions of playing it right now. I think the racials are weak.

On a side note, I get why people feel wronged by it. Paywalling a race is a first for WoW. I don’t like it as a precedent for future races and content but can’t say I’m surprised.

On the plus side, Forever doesn’t require a separate subscription which… I’m just going to be quiet about.
