I’m actively choosing to focus on lower levelled alts for the next few weeks, waiting for the max influx of players to hit 80 and not be in my way when I start to play my 70’s.
On one alt, I was able to fly into Loch Modan and level my Classic skinning to 300 of the ebon whelps near the Greenwarden’s Grove, and they stayed orange skill level the whole time.
On this specific toon however, those same whelps grayed out at around skill level 160, and every place I have gone in old classic zones, the mobs are grey or green, even Silithis, which was end game content at the time.
Why the inconsistency, and where does a player go to level older professions now?

Edit: No replies in the past four days, and this character is still frozen at 295/300 for classic Skinning.
I attempted to try Onyxia’s lair in Duskwallow Marsh, a classic zone, as I remembered to skin Onyxia back then, you needed a skill of 300, plus a boost, but the mobs i a classic wow dungeon, for whatever reason, instead unlocked and credited to Northrend skinning…
Likewise, the sharks that defend the tasty reef fish school for the Northrend daily quest “The Way To His Heart”, which gives 500 Kulu’ak reputation, for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, inexplicably, these sharks unlock and credit the Khaz Algar skinning for The War Within expansion.
Is there ANY rhyme or reason to professions now?
